Soft and Chewy Green Tea Cookies

Soft and chewy green tea cookies are easy to make and flavored with matcha powder.

I was trying to make green tea sugar cookies the other day, but I was in a rush.  As a result, I put more matcha powder than I usually do in my batter, and I also made the cookies a lot bigger.

While my green tea sugar cookies are light, bright shade of green with a crispy outside, the cookies I’m sharing today came out softer, chewier, and cakier.  The green color was also a bit darker.

I liked the result (except for maybe the color) and will use this modified recipe next time I’m in the mood for a softer, cakier, chewy type cookie.

  1. Great recipe! I am absolutely in love with anything green tea flavored right now and this was perfect. Definitely not a recipe for people who like crispy cookies.

  2. Hi Kirbie,

Can you please provide the ingredients in metric? In our country we don’t use cup so it is a bit difficult to convert the exact volume.

    Thank you very much!

    • I don’t have the measurement conversions, but if you do a google search, there is a lot of websites that will provide you with the conversions

  3. I burned them… 🙁 But they’re really good! (after I scraped the burnt part off). They taste better with chocolate chips in them.
