Souplantation

There are a couple of places that I eat at that I don’t usually take photos of because I feel a little odd blogging about it.  Souplantation falls into this category. I guess I feel that it is well known enough that there isn’t much to review or share.

I like to visit Souplantation every once in a while when I’m in the mood for soup and hot muffins. I tried to take some photos of a recent trip, though I kept forgetting to take out my camera.

Here are some of our plates of salads:

Clam chowder. I always make sure to get this one.

Chicken Noodle Soup. My brother wanted lots and lots of noodles..

Pasta

Fresh baked blueberry muffins. I know they use a mix but there is something about hot from the oven that is so addicting.

Baked potato

And of course ice cream for dessert.  Baby Bro makes the prettiest ice cream sundaes. I can never get the swirls just right and mine usually looks like a lopsided mess. So I always have him do mine for me now.

  1. I love Souplantation! You plated your food so neatly! Did you do that because you were photographing your food or is that how you always do it? My plate is usually piled sky high with the food spilling all over the tray. Yes, I know you can go back for more but I’m just a glutton!!

  2. Apparently, the cream of mushroom soup is only on Mondays.

On my last visit to Fresh Choice last fall, the quality of the food was not good. The number and types of items they had was similar to what Souplantation offers.

    • Only on Mondays? Boo. It seems to be a lot of people’s favorite, they should just have it on the menu all the time. I always pass by Fresh Choice when I go visit my parents. Too bad on your last visit the quality went down.

  3. I can’t get my husband the carnivore to go to Souplantation often. The salads are ok, but what I love is their cream of mushroom soup! I always get the blueberry muffins, and like your brother, I like my chicken noodle soup with lots of noodles.

I used to love Fresh Choice when I lived in NorCal, but I think Souplantation is much better than FC now. My family up north agrees, so they always want to go to Souplantation at least once when they’re visiting.

    • Oh my favorite soup is the cream of mushroom too!! It is hardly ever there when I go though.
My mom doesn’t like Souplantation because of lack of meat. She thinks it’s not enough food to get full.
I actually never went to Fresh Choice because people told me that they barely have anything. We usually go to Sweet Tomatoes/Souplantation because my aunts, uncles, and grandma love the place. They go once a week.

  4. I have never been to Souplantation, but there used to be a salad bar restaurant in my neck of the woods of the similar concept. I loved going there but Mr. W didn’t like salads so we didn’t go too often. The trick to making the swirls on the ice cream is to move the cone/cup in a circular motion under the nozzle instead of spinning it around. Yes, that was the only thing I learned while working at McD’s when I was younger! How to make a pretty ice cream cone! Hmmm, I wonder if I will ever use that skill again. Wouldn’t it be fun to open up a soft-serve ice cream shop to serve ice cream and see smiling faces all day? 😉

    • Interesting, I’ll have to try that out next time. I’m not sure how your salad bar restaurant is like, but the nice thing about Souplantation is that there are a lot of other non salad items. I usually stick to the non salad items. Though my mom hates it because she wants more meat and more variety. Soft serve ice cream shop sounds delicious! I always have to go to McD to get my soft serve ice cream.

  5. Souplantation is a weird place for me – b/c sometimes I just crave it. But there are only two things i always get – Chinese chicken salad and the Caesar salad. I sometimes just order the family size of those salads for take out to eat at home. And yeah, the blueberry muffins are so awesome when they’re hot right outta the oven! I love it that i can eat the crunchy muffin tops and leave the stumps on the side 🙂
