Kirbie's Cravings

San Diego Desserts

Recently, I had a nice lunch with fellow food bloggers CC of Pink Candles at Ridgemont High and Dennis of A Radiused Corner. FH came along too and so did one of CC’s friends who isn’t a blogger but is quite the adventurous eater. This post isn’t about the lunch- I’ll get to it soon, though you can read CC’s recap already here. After lunch, we swung by San Diego Desserts for a sweet treat.

I’ve never been to San Diego Desserts so I was excited to check it out. While the store is named “San Diego Desserts” they actually serve a full lunch menu as well. The burgers looked pretty mouthwatering…

But we had just had lunch, so we only stuck to the desserts. The dessert case had such decadent looking individual sized cakes.

Here’s the desserts we ordered:

I chose the macadamia nut bombe. I liked the macadamia nut taste but the mousse layer inside was just okay for me. It tasted more like a whipped cream than mousse.

FH chose the Chocolate Decadence. I enjoyed FH’s much better. I liked the alternate layers of cake and mousse.

Here is CC’s friends Banana Chocolate Teardrop. I loved the shape and it tasted good too. There was a strong banana flavor mixed with the chocolate.

Dennis ordered a simple cheesecake, which he said was light and spongy.

CC ordered the chocolate croissant.

We ate here shortly before Halloween so the restaurant was decked out. The amputated hands and feet looked particularly interesting.

Overall, I liked what we ate. I definitely will have to come back to try out more of the menu. You can read CC’s account of our experience here.
