Wicked Spoon (Cosmopolitan Las Vegas)

A trip to Las Vegas is never complete without feasting on the buffets. I especially love doing the Sunday brunch before we jet back to reality.

There were a few buffets I was considering, but then I came across Wicked Spoon, located inside The Cosmopolitan.  Several yelpers describe it as a buffet for “foodies” because it offers nontraditional items like bone marrow, truffle risotto, as well as a gelato station

Brunch was $29 per person, which wasn’t too bad considering how high the prices have gotten at the newer hotels. In addition, the line wasn’t long either. We waited maybe 15 minutes before being seated.

One of the cool features of the Wicked Spoon is that almost all the food is served in small individual servings. Fried chicken in a tiny fried chicken basket, pasta served in mini pans, etc.

Here’s what we ate:

The dishes were a bit hit and miss like most buffets. Some we loved, some we didn’t. It was still fun to check them out. Some of my favorites included the gnocchi and, surprisingly, the chicken porridge and crispy noodles.

Of course I needed to save room for the dessert station which was flooded with beautiful mini desserts. Not only are there muffins, cakes, and cookies, but there is a gelato section offering about a twenty different flavors of gelato. FH was sweet enough to try to take pictures of all the desserts offered.

Gelato offerings:

We tried sampling as many desserts as possible:

The gelato didn’t have the right texture, tasting more like regular ice cream. But it was fun having so many flavor options.

Overall we had a fun time experiencing a new buffet place. I think if we came back a few more times, the wonder may wear off since there weren’t that many standout dishes, but it’s definitely worth at least one trip to experience. Because we came for brunch, I didn’t see a lot of the features that people described that are available for the dinner experience such as a mac n cheese station, sushi station, bone marrow, truffle risotto. I would like to come back again to experience the dinner.

It’s been a while since I’ve been to Vegas and it was my first time being inside the Cosmopolitan. So we took some time to quickly explore the hotel before leaving.

I really enjoyed the decor. It’s definitely got a younger vibe with the various artwork displayed.

The hallways are also offers plenty of open space, with random lounge areas scattered throughout. It’s rare to find a place in Vegas  with areas of peace and quiet. I saw several people resting as they waited to head home.

The most noted decor at The Cosmopolitan though is The Chandelier bar.  It drapes through three stories of the hotel, with each story offering different types of drinks. We didn’t get a chance to experience the bar, though I definitely want to next time. It was fun to just see the enormous shimmering chandelier though.

The Cosmopolitan also offers China Poblano, a Chinese and Mexican food restaurant by Chef Jose Andres, including handmade noodles.

Things to check out next time…

  1. Dinner, I have to say, does seem to have a better spread. I love the fact that everything is already preportioned–I don’t have to worry about overserving myself, which seems to be the problem at other buffets! You definitely have to try the Studio B Buffet at the M Resort sometime though. The food wasn’t amazing, but I never fail to have a great experience each time. The desserts, I have to admit, were better than the ones offered at Wicked Spoon 🙂

  2. Wow! Looks yummy!

  3. My friend really liked this place, but I can’t remember if she had lunch, brunch or dinner. On my last trip to Vegas, we went to one buffet – dinner at Bellagio. It would be interesting to compare the two.

    • I was actually planning on doing Bellagio but then I found Wicked Spoon and decided to try that instead. People are telling me dinner is better, so next time I definitely want to try dinner here. I just read on another blog about Jasmine inside Bellagio does a Sunday brunch buffet, and it looks pretty good.

  4. The food looks great! How was the fried chicken?

    • I was a little disappointed with the fried chicken. It was crispy but lacked seasoning. I loved the little basket it came in though. haha
