Foods We’re Eating- Yogurt

I don’t know about you, but about half of my grocery list consists of items I find through other food blogs, instagram photos from people I follow, and recommendations from friends. When I started this blog, I used to share some of my recent new snacks and grocery escapades, but it’s been quite a long time since I’ve done so and I thought it might be fun to do again from time to time.

So here’s the first installment and it’s on yogurts we’re currently consuming:

Siggi’s Icelandic Strained Yogurt

If you’re a fan of thick yogurts like Greek strained yogurt and want some fruit flavor that isn’t full of sugar, then I suggest Siggi’s.

I fell in love with this one awhile ago, but it was previously only available at Whole Foods. Now it’s reached Vons, so I’ve been buying it a lot more. The yogurt is a little thicker than Greek strained yogurt and comes in various fruit flavors. It’s not super sweet like other fruit flavor yogurts, so it’s still quite healthy.

Greek Gods Yogurt -Honey flavor

I’ve never thought of yogurt as a dessert until trying this flavor. I love this yogurt almost as much as ice cream. It’s a full fat rich yogurt but it tastes so good. There are other flavors but they don’t taste as dessert-like to me. I only get the honey one.

Activia Breakfast Blend Maple & Brown Sugar

We usually have Activia yogurt in the house, but were recently introduced to the new breakfast blend flavors. I was given a small gift card to try out some of the Breakfast Blend flavors and review and chose maple & brown sugar and the banana bread. The maple & brown sugar one had little pieces of oats inside making it taste like I had mixed my yogurt with my oatmeal. DH usually eats oatmeal for breakfast so he’s been eating this for breakfast at work. Neither of us liked the banana as much, but I think that’s mainly because I don’t like banana flavored items, just bananas by themselves.

  1. I’ve been a fan of Siggi’s for a while too. Apparently it is technically not yogurt – it is cheese as it contains rennet. The texture reminds me of ricotta.

    • Really? Hmm interesting. Either way I love it. It’s sweet without being high in sugar and using artificial sweeteners.

  2. I like the idea of these posts! I’ll have to try Greek Gods Honey, I picked up a Noosa Strawberry Rhubarb the other day after hearing so many people rave about them…it’s warranted.

  3. Great recommendations!! Greek God Honey Flavor is my all time favorite greek yogurt! If you like that texture, you should try Trader Joe’s greek yogurt for a less sweet version (just the plain one, not the honey one).

  4. Thanks for the recommendation. It is hard finding a yogurt that is not loaded with added sugar. I will certainly try to find this brand in my area.

    • Siggi’s has been the first one I’ve found that has such a low amount of sugar, so I was excited. Glad I could share it with others.

  5. I LOVE The Greek Gods Greek yogurt. So far it’s the only brand of Greek yogurt I like. The honey flavor is my favorite and I love to use it in smoothies and cold oatmeal cups. The Honey Vanilla flavor is good too.

    • Oh there’s a honey vanilla? I haven’t seen that one. I’ll have to try it. I tried one of the citrus fruit flavors once and didn’t find it as good as the honey. I think it’s great for making parfaits.

  6. This is awesome. I’ve been looking for a low-sugar yogurt with rich flavor. I’m going to give Siggi’s a try.
