P&G’s Have You Tried This Yet + $100 giveaway
Please note, the giveaway has now ended and Blogher has randomly chosen comment #49 as the winner.
With the holiday season in full effect, I hope you enjoy my participation in P&G’s “Have You Tried This Yet?” campaign, where I reviewed Bounty® Basic Paper Towels and COVERGIRL’s blast flipstick. I also get to host a giveaway to give my readers a chance to win a $100 Visa gift card.
I’m pretty familiar with the Bounty® brand of paper towels, and it’s my top choice when I’m buying paper towels. I find the Bounty® brand to be noticeably thicker and softer feeling compared to other brands. Plus, Bounty® cleans the mess with less because one sheet traps and locks the mess
So there’s the Bounty® I’m used to which usual has bright green packaging, but have you heard of Bounty® Basic, which has a yellow label? (Sorry, I had a picture, but seemed to have lost it. I will update a picture of the Basic paper towels later.)
Recently, I was selected to review Bounty® Basic Paper Towels as part of the “Have You Tried this Yet?” program from P&G. The idea of the program is to introduce brands to consumers to help improve everyday life. You can check out more details here. In addition, BlogHer is doing a Sweepstakes for a $100 Visa gift card, which you enter by leaving a comment.
Have You Tried This Yet? offers consumers various value saving opportunities throughout the year to try some of the program’s participating products like Bounty®:
- brandSAVER: Complimentary coupon booklet, distributed in local Sunday newspapers nationwide, featuring more than $80 in savings on the campaign’s featured products.
- brandSAMPLER: Samples and valuable coupons mailed directly to you.
- eSAVER: Get coupons downloaded directly to your own personal shopper card.
The biggest difference about Bounty® Basic is that it’s only 1-ply, whereas the regular Bounty® is 2-ply. It does not feel as soft and absorbent as the Bounty® I’m used to, but it’s also priced less (about half the price). There are definitely situations in my life where I sometimes feel the thicker Bounty® towels go to waste when being used. For instance, a tiny spill, covering food being microwaved, or when they are being used as napkins.
Even though Bounty® Basic doesn’t feel as soft and thick as the 2-ply Bounty® towels, the 1-ply Basic ones still feel nicer than the 1-ply towels offered at my office and most business offices, which feel almost as rough as regular paper.
While I wouldn’t use these for a heavy duty clean-up, they are good for something small. You can save some money by using the cheaper priced paper towels for smaller situations and saving the super absorbent ones for bigger messes. It is also more environmentally friendly to use the 1-ply ones whenever possible rather than waste and use the 2-ply ones when they aren’t needed.
In addition to the Bounty Basic paper towels, I was also given a chance to review COVERGIRL’s blast flipstick. No it’s not edible and not really about food, but I think lipsticks still appeal to a lot of my readers, right?
The new blast flipstick provides two lipstick shades on one stick, which makes carrying lipstick around more convenient. There are quite a few color combinations to choose from, ranging from big contrasting dark to light shades on one stick, to more similar shades on one stick. On each stick, one side is a creamy shade and the other one is a shimmery shade. You can wear them individually or blend them into one, creating different shades for different occasions.
After much contemplating with all the color combinations, I chose a stick that had two shades of pink. A lighter, creamy pink for the daytime, and a darker shimmery pink which works great for the evening. The two colors work well together too, and I added a little bit of the sparkly pink to my daytime shade to highlight my lips a little more. So far, I’m loving my new lipstick. I love carrying around one stick that I can use multiple ways and I was impressed with the different combinations offered so that I can change it around depending on my mood, clothes, or the occassion.
