Favorite Recipes of 2014

It’s that time of year again. As much as I’m feeling bittersweet about saying goodbye to 2014, I do look forward to reflecting back on the year and making this round-up list. This year, I’m sharing my top ten favorite sweet recipes and top ten favorite savory recipes. Did any of your favorites make the list?

Sweet

#10 Matcha Shortbread Trees

I just can’t get over how cute these are and I especially like the “snow” I was able to create with the powdered sugar.

#9 Pumpkin Pie Mug Cake

It’s been years since I bought or made a full-sized pumpkin pie because I never want to be stuck eating a whole one. This recipe took nearly a dozen tries, but I finally got the results I wanted and I love being able to eat and make an individual pumpkin pie in minutes.

#8 Raspberry Lemonade Pie Bars

I usually don’t like fruit based desserts, but these raspberry lemonade bars really spoke to me. I love the color, the tart and sweet, and the bits of crust in every bite.

#7 Flourless Pumpkin Nutella Muffins

These mini muffins are adorable and ridiculously light and fluffy. It’s hard to believe they are flourless!

#6 Iced Tea Sangria

I don’t often share drink recipes on this blog, but I really loved how this one came out and was pleased to see how much others enjoyed it too. I also love how colorful it is and I’ve served it at several parties.

#5 Churros con chocolate

Who knew recreating the famous Spanish churros dipped in thick chocolate could be so easy? But it is and it’s delicious. I wish I could eat these all the time.

#4 Mango Mousse Tart

I try to avoid full cake and tart recipes because they require a lot of decorating. This was one of my efforts of 2014 and I’m really happy with the results. My parents loved the flavor too.

#3 3 Ingredient Single Serving Nutella Brownie

Brownies are one of my favorite desserts of all time, and this single serving Nutella brownie is so satisfying. It’s chewy, rich, decadent, and ready in less than 5 minutes.

# 2 4 Ingredient Chewy Nutella Cookies

These cookies are so easy to make and always get rave reviews. I love how chewy. It’s the cookie recipe I made the most times this year.

#1 2 Ingredient Flourless Nutella Mug Cake

I didn’t know if I could create a mug cake version of my 2 Ingredient Flourless Nutella Cake, so when I was successful, I was beyond excited. I really adore this cake and it tastes just as good as the original.

Savory

#10 Chinese Sesame Bread

This is a bread I order often at Chinese restaurants and never thought I’d be able to recreate it. I’m pretty happy with my first attempt.

#9 Honey Walnut Shrimp

Another favorite Chinese dish of mine that I didn’t realize I could make. It’s not the prettiest presentation, but it was delicious.

#8 Chicken Cracklings

I don’t let myself make this too often, but it’s so freaking good. Crispy thin chicken skins, baked until the fat is rendered off.

#7 Sriracha Bacon Wrapped Onion Rings

I love how these look, almost like donut rings. And they taste pretty good too.

#6 Grilled Mac n Cheese Sandwiches

Of all the grilled cheese creations I came up with this year, this one is my favorite. It’s a bit indulgent, but it’s great for an occasional treat.

#5 3 Ingredient Buttermilk Biscuits

Buttermilk biscuits could not be easier. This is my new go-to recipe.

#4 Cornbread Stuffing Muffins

I love how adorable these came out and the taste as well. There were zero leftovers.

#3 Salt & Pepper Wings

I’ve made these about a dozen times this year with the help of Mr. K and we haven’t yet gotten sick of it. It’s the perfect party appetizer.

#2 Honey Garlic Chicken

This baked chicken dish is one of my favorite meals to make. I love the sweet and savory sauce and the crispy chicken coated in panko crumbs.

#1 Crispy Golden Pork Belly

I’ve always loved roasted crispy pork belly skin but I never imagined I’d be able to successfully create it in my kitchen. This recipe is easy to follow and produces the most fantastically crunchy skin. I love making this!
