Holiday Gift Guide

If you are still doing your holiday gift shopping (like me), here is a round-up of various gift ideas I’ve come up with based on some of my favorite things.

Kitchen Gadgets

Progressive International Magnetic Measuring Spoons

I’ve owned many sets of measuring spoons throughout the years, but this is by far my favorite one ever. There are so many things that make them stand out.

1. They are double sided. This means you can measure 2 different ingredients of the same measurement before having to wash your measuring spoon. It saves so much time and clean-up and the oval-shape side works really well with liquids.

2. They are magnetic. They stick together, making it easier to keep them altogether. The other ones I own all use a ring or snap closure and as a result, they never stay together.

3. They are made of steel. Because of that, they are much sturdier than the plastic ones and are less likely to break or warp.

Zwilling J.A. Henckels Twin Pure Can Opener

This is a smooth edge can opener, meaning it cuts on the side rather than the top, and doesn’t leave jagged edges.

No more being afraid of cutting yourself along the edge of an open can. You can even put it back on and stick it in the fridge if you don’t finish the contents of the can.

This one is a bit pricey  but it’s the one I own and I’ve had it for about a year with no issue. I did find some cheaper options, though I haven’t tried them myself. It if you are interested in trying out a smooth edge opener and not willing to pay as much you can try this Kuhn Rikon one that got really good reviews.

Ozeri Kitchen Scale

This scale remains one of the most used items in my kitchen. It’s great for measuring out recipes that are in ounces and grams. Sometimes recipes just need really precise measurements and I actually prefer to weigh out ingredients because it does make things more accurate. I also love using it to send out packages because I can weigh and do the postage online.

Lodge Enameled Cast Iron Dutch Oven

This is a cheaper alternative to the Le Creuset dutch ovens. I’ve never owned a Le Creuset though I know people rave about it. This brand got really good reviews and I love it. It’s heavy but is solidly built. Foods cook evenly and without sticking, and it’s very easy to clean with a very light scrub. I currently own the 6 qt and the 3 qt. They also have a 4.5 qt. If they had more versions, I would only cook with these.

OXO Pop Containers

I’ve featured my OXO pop containers in various kitchen posts. I store all my baking staples in them and I love how convenient these containers are. You can seal and open with a simple push of the button. So when my hands are dirty and crusted with flour, I can easily push a container open with one finger or even an elbow.

Waring Toaster Oven

What I love about this is that it’s 2 in 1. It’s a toaster oven with a built in toaster. I’ve since put away my old toaster oven and toaster because this takes up much less room and the color matches better with my kitchen. The toaster oven portion does seem a little smaller, but not to the point where it really affects anything I’m using it for.  I actually received this item for review and so far it’s working really well. Some of the Amazon reviews, people had issues with it breaking down after a few months. I’ve only had it about 1 month and it’s fine so far. We’ll see how it is after a few more months.

Keurig Brewer

I’ve been using my Keurig for about three years now and I still use it daily. I brew coffee with it, use it to heat up water for a cup of tea or a cup of noodles. I offer it to my guests for after dinner coffee too and everyone can select their own flavor. It heats up water so quickly and with just enough for one serving.

Cookbooks

5-Minute Mug Cakes

I know this is a little self serving, but I think my cookbook would make a great food gift for even the busiest person. It’s available almost anywhere, but it’s on sale right now on Amazon!

The Kitchn Cookbook

This is on my holiday wish list. I love The Kitchn site and use it all the time for cooking references and ideas. They recently came out with their first cookbook and I bet it’s great.

Sally’s Baking Addiction

I became a fan of Sally’ blog earlier this year and her cookbook is also on my wishlist.

Food

One of my favorite sites for gourmet food gifts is Goldbely. They have a huge selection of famous foods from around the US, providing next day delivery of foods you normally would have to travel far to get. For me, it’s items like pastrami from Katz Deli, cookies from Momofuku, etc.

I hope this list helps with your holiday shopping! Happy Wednesday!
