Seven Year Blog Anniversary

This year marks the seventh anniversary of this blog!

I can’t believe it’s been seven years already. According to Facebook, seven years is also the amount of time my husband and I have been officially Facebook friends. Ha! So if you’ve been following from the beginning, I guess you’ve known me as long as my husband has?

Every year I say I’m going to bake something special to celebrate the blog anniversary. Any excuse to eat cake right? And every year, it never happens. So you’re just left with this photo of a Sprinkles cupcake I had last week.

I always like to take a moment to reflect on the blog and what has happened in the last year. There were definitely a lot of fun new experiences this past year including doing my first cooking demo and a quick little local morning tv appearance. I went into both completely terrified, but afterwards I was glad I forced myself to do them.

This year, there were actually a lot of changes with the blog itself. Most of the changes were internal so I’m not going to bore you with the details. Balance is the word that keeps popping up in my mind when I think about this year. The struggle to find balance to be more exact. I know it’s a concept that we are always dealing with– finding balance– but I definitely felt myself searching for the right balance more this year than before.

One thing that has not changed though, is my passion for this blog. And I owe so much of that to all the readers. I devote a lot of time to this blog, not only writing up posts, but also practicing my photography skills, testing and retesting recipes in the kitchen, seeking out new restaurants, educating myself on food, writing, editing. All of that time and effort is worth it when I see that people are reading. And it is even more uplifting when people leave me comments, tag me in Instagram photos, or write me emails to let me know that they found my restaurant review helpful or they really enjoyed one of my recipes. The blog started as a way to share my passion for food and I’m so happy to be able to connect and share it with so many people.

I have many, many goals and projects I want to do for the blog this upcoming year and hopefully I’ll get to them all. I know this year I haven’t posted with the same manic frequency as years past. I’ve been trying to concentrate more an quality over quantity. If you want up-to-date information on what I’m eating or doing, I really love sharing delicious food finds and upcoming recipes on Instagram and Snapchat (username: kirbiecravings).

The last few years I’ve ended these posts sharing a few random facts about me. Here are a few more:

1. My first pet was a turtle. As a result, I love turtles. I currently have three pet turtles.

2. My favorite colors are green and purple.

3. I really love donuts and I love trying different and unique flavors, but ultimately my go-to is still a classic glazed donut.

That’s it for now. Once again, thank you to all that are reading. Thank you for your continued support. It really has been the driving force for me to stay committed to this blog so long and I hope you will continue on this journey with me for many more years.

  1. Congrats on 7  years! It’s been incredible watching your blog grow into such a success. Here’s to another year of happy blogging 🙂

  2. Happy Blogiversary! I’m a gluten free lurker from Ohio – so I have yet to be able to try any of the San Diego places – and can’t eat all of the foods you try – but I still learn a lot from reading your reviews and your recipes. I love to talk about food – so I love your blog, which talks about food with the reverence and awe it deserves! I currently have your Bang Bang sauce on my list of recipes to try and I’m carrying around a screen shot of the right (seed-free) chili sauce to get at the Asian market. Thanks for writing and sharing – <3

    • Thanks for taking the time to comment! I love lurkers, haha! And I hope you’re able to find the chili sauce. The bang bang sauce is one of my favorites!
