Bottega Americano

photo of the outside of Bottega AmericanoWe were recently invited for dinner at Bottega Americano. We previously dined there for dinner when they first opened and had a wonderful experience and have been wanting to come back. We also had brunch there a few months ago and really enjoyed that as well.

Bottega Americano has a beautiful dining space, which I discussed more in my initial post. In addition to a central dining area, the restaurant has five specialty food stations with bar seating where you can watch them in action.

BA Meatballs

We started with an order of their meatballs as I’d been craving homemade Italian meatballs for weeks. These were quite good. A tender and flavorful blend of meats and served on a bed of tomato sauce and five herb pesto.

Di stefano burrata

This was one of the highlights of our meal. There are few foods in this world that I enjoy more than burrata. Paired with speck, apple slices, arugula, aged balsamic and toast, this is my idea of a perfect appetizer or afternoon snack. The flavors definitely evoked fond memories from my trip to Italy a few years ago.

Pappardelle

I recalled we really enjoyed the fresh pasta here on our last visit, so I definitely wanted to order another pasta dish. The lamb sugo was rich, thick and meaty. The wide, flat pappardelle pasta was the perfect vehicle for scooping up the sauce and we really enjoyed the fresh pasta.

We also tried one of their pizzas. We really enjoy the pizzas here, cooked in their wood-fired oven. The crust is crispy, chewy, with just a little char. I loved the generous amounts of proscuitto paired with broccolini.

Gelato Stuffed Croissant

We shared this delicious creation for dessert. Your choice of gelato flavor, stuffed into a cut-open croissant and then drizzled with chocolate sauce. I can’t believe I’ve never eaten a croissant this way before.

Overall, we had another wonderful meal here. After our first meal at Bottega Americano shortly after they opened, the restaurant immediately became one of our favorite spots for Italian food in San Diego. It was nice to revisit again for dinner and see that everything is still just as good. We also previously enjoyed their brunch and they just launched a lunch menu which hopefully we’ll have a chance to check out soon.

You can read my first dinner visit here and brunch here.

Please note, as indicated above, we were invited for dinner and this meal was complimentary. All opinions expressed are my own.
