Kirbie's Cravings

Madison on Park

Madison on Park serves Mediterranean and California inspired cuisine. We recently visited the restaurant for the first time to check out their weekend brunch menu.

We were invited in to try some of their new brunch cocktails and dishes. I really love the design of the restaurant, with its high vaulted ceilings and colorful geometric wood panels. The restaurant was quite full so I wasn’t able to get a good photo of the interior.

One of the main reasons I was interested in checking out the brunch here is that they serve a lot of my brunch favorites, but with a healthier spin.

Blue Magic Mimosa

Made with champagne, blue-green algae, organic lemon, alkaline water, fuji apple and ginger. I loved the lovely shade of blue produced from the blue-green algae and it tasted light, sweet and refreshing.

Black Magic Mimosa

Made with champagne, celery, organic lemon, apple, alkaline water, blood orange agave nectar and activated charcoal. The charcoal trend is huge this summer and it was fun trying this black colored drink. Both were fun to drink though I slightly preferred the flavor of the blue magic mimosa.

Waffled Churro Sticks

I had studied the menu prior to our visit and already knew that I had to try their very popular Waffled Churro Sticks. These did not disappoint.

Cinnamon sugar coated waffle sticks are served with maple cream cheese sauce, jam and fresh fruit. The waffle sticks had a wonderfully crunchy exterior are and they really do remind me of churros when eaten with the cinnamon sugar coating.

These were quite filling and definitely a great sharing option for a group.

I loved seeing so many greens with my steak and eggs. The hollandaise sauce is lighter than traditional hollandaise sauce, but it still was creamy and flavorful. I really enjoyed the steak and crispy seasoned potatoes.

Chilaquiles

This is one of Mr. K’s favorite things to order. I usually find the dish far too rich and heavy for my first meal of the day, but I quite enjoyed this one because it was a much cleaner version, using pinto beans instead of refried beans.

Overall, we had a really nice meal here and I plan on coming back again. With the summer heat, I have been craving lighter meals so these healthier spins on brunch classics is exactly what I have been looking for. And I am still dreaming about those waffled churro sticks.
