Cheese Beer Bread

This cheese beer bread is one of the easiest quick breads I’ve ever made. You only need four ingredients and a few minutes to make the batter and it bakes up with a chewy, cheesy crust that’s so delicious.

I love quick breads because they don’t take long to make and I don’t have to worry about yeast or waiting for the bread to rise. Ever since I made my Honey Beer Bread, I love trying out new beer bread recipes. This cheese beer bread is seriously one of the easiest quick breads I’ve ever made.

What I love best about this beer bread is the chewy, cheesy crust that forms while it bakes. Sprinkling extra shredded cheddar cheese over the top of the batter creates the crust and it’s my favorite part.

Beer Bread

Beer bread is just what it sounds like – bread made with beer! The beer is used to make the bread batter and the majority of the alcohol cooks away as the bread bakes, but you can still taste the beer. This version includes cheddar cheese which pairs really well with the beer. I also have a Bacon Cheese Beer Bread recipe which is a great flavor combo, too.

Type of Beer to Use

I don’t specify the type of beer in the recipe because you can use pretty much any kind you like to make it. Consider the flavor when you choose one and pick one that you like to drink.

Heavier beers like stouts will give your bread a strong and rich beer flavor while beers like lagers will give the bread a lighter flavor. Because of the cheese, I don’t recommend using a beer with a lot of fruity undertones as it may clash with the cheese.

This bread is great as a snack, served alongside a bowl of soup or use it as a sandwich bread like I do for my Beer Bread Grilled Cheese Sandwich.
