A few weeks ago when my friends were visiting, Boyfriend and I were trying to decide where to take them for breakfast.  We didn’t have any reservations, so we thought we’d take them to Azul’s for brunch.  You can read my previous post on Azul’s brunch here.

Azul is in downtown La Jolla and has a gorgeous view of the cove.  It’s a nice spot to take friends visitng from out of town for brunch and it’s usually not full.  All brunch entrees also come with fresh fruit, pastries, and an alcoholic beverage (blood mary, screwdriver, champagne or mimosa).

Here’s my mimosa:

And here are our pastries and fruit:

The pastries consisted of plain croissants and croissants filled with apple and raisins.

I ordered a seafood omelette

I forgot to take a picture of the inside, but it was delicious.  I was a bit worried.  Sometimes I dislike seafood omelettes at brunch places.  Something about the cheese and seafood not mixing well. This one was great.  It had a lot of pesto sauce inside which I love.

My friend ordered a club sandwich.

The sandwich was thick, warm, the bread was toasted.  He said it was one of the best sandwiches he’s ever eaten.

Boyfriend ordered the breakfast burrito.

It was full of bacon, ham, cheese, egg, and potatoes.  I liked the green tortilla.  Boyfriend really enjoyed his burrito.

  1. The burrito was good! So were the potatoes that accompanied it. If you are ever in SD, you should check it out!

  2. I think I like pesto in just about everything. Especially pesto pizza. Yum! I never had pesto in an omelet until now, and I really liked it. This is definitely a nice brunch spot. Pretty and quiet, with lots of seating. I’m not sure why they don’t have better business during their brunch hours.

  3. I want that burrito too!

  4. Everything looks so good. I like the idea of pesto in the omelet. I’ve only been to Azul for dinner but I’ll have to remember them for brunch on those special occassions.
