San Diego Food News

I get a lot of emails about food events and restaurant deals happening around San Diego. I don’t put them all up on the blog, but sometimes when there are a few really interesting ones, I’ll discuss them. So here is some food news you may want to check out:

Pink’s Hot Dogs comes to San Diego. If you haven’t heard of Pink’s, it’s a hot dog stand based in Hollywood that is famous for their dogs. The line is always out the door when I pass by and the stands have been visited by many celebrities. Apparently, Pink’s  just opened its first restaurant in San Diego, at Harrah’s Casino in San Diego. The opening ceremony was November 23, but I couldn’t attend since I had to work. According to the press release “The 1,000 sq. ft. restaurant will seat 46 and will be located within the Sports Pit Area of the casino and will offer a full line of their most famous dogs, burgers and sides, including the Stretch Chili Cheese Dog, Spicy Polish Dog, Bacon Burrito Dog, the 12 inch Jalapeno Dog, the Poli-Bacon Chili Cheesburger and Chili Fries.”

Harrah’s Rincon Casino & Resort is located at 777 Harrah’s Rincon Way (33750 Valley Center Road) in Valley Center, CA.

Chocolate and Sugar sculpture at The Grand Del Mar: From November 28 through December 30, the Grand Del Mar resort lobby will be featuring its candy rendition of Santa’s Workshop.  Designed by the Grand Del Mar’s pastry team, the exhibit is 55 inches tall and spans 73 inches, and weighs 150 lbs. It is built from chocolate, sugar, icing and other sweets.

  1. Hi Kirbie –
I wanted to go to the Pink’s opening, too – but it was at a weird time and I couldn’t go, either. Too bad. I’m not sure if I’ll get to go, Harrah’s is pretty far out there to go for hot dogs.
