Kirbie's Cravings

Luong Hai Ky Noodle House

My brothers are obsessed with noodle soup places. A tip from mmm-yoso alerted me that Luong Hai Ky had once again reopened its location on Convoy, so this past weekend I took the family there.

I haven’t been inside since Luong Hai Ky closed and became Phat. When we went inside, everything looked exactly the same, down the the fishtanks and fish.

There is a special for the grand opening, where the pho is buy 2 get 1 free, but no one was interested in pho.

I ordered the duck noodle soup after my brothers had raved about it when they had it at the Mira Mesa location. There was a good amount of duck pieces in my soup, though I found the roasted duck to be a little salty. I got mine with egg noodles.

Baby bro got the seafood combination noodle soup, and requested thin rice noodles (the default rice noodles are wide flat ones).

FH ordered the fried rice.

Here is what everyone else ordered. Curry noodle soup.

Stir fried egg noodles.

The food we had was alright. The quality seemed on par with the Mira Mesa location. It’s nothing great, but it hits the spot for a quick, cheap meal.

  1. I visited this location on July 14hth, 2013. There was no hand soap in the either bathrooms, which means that the staff isn’t properly washing their hands after using the toilet, OR they’re not washing their hands at all. Secondly, there were two large roaches spotted while I was eating there, and the staff did nothing to address the problem-didn’t even try to kill the roaches that were sighted!

    STAY AWAY

  2. Hi Kirbie – LHK used to be much better before the original owner passed away.

    • That’s too bad. I felt a little underwhelmed. I think I’d rather go for a bowl of pho or ramen or bun, but my brothers love this place

  3. Hi Kirbie! Sometimes all you need is something inexpensive to hit the spot. The duck soup looks especially good right now since I’m craving duck.

    • i did have a good amount of duck, which was surprising. But then my brother’s duck bowl was mainly all bones.
