Flemings Steakhouse & Wine Bar

Fleming’s is one of my favorite places for steak in San Diego, so when I recently was alerted to their spring break promotion which includes filet mignon and lobster, I quickly made my reservation.

For $34.95 per person, you get to choose a starter (French onion soup or wedge salad), a side (green beans or mashed potatoes) and an entree of filet mignon and lobster tail. The promotion runs until April 7.

The offer is not on their regular menu, but you can make a reservation and state the promo in your reservation notes. You can also ask your server about the promotion once you are there.

We started with their complimentary parmesan bread which was accompanied with a tomato basil whipped butter and a chardonnay feta whipped butter.

The bread was slightly overbaked on one side as you can see by how dark it is, but still edible. Normally I don’t like spreading butter on my bread, but Fleming’s is the one exception. I love their infused butter spreads and their crusty parmesan bread. It’s one of my favorite parts of dining here.

French Onion Soup

FH chose the french onion soup, perfect for the rainy weather. It was served piping hot, with a lot of melted cheese. The broth had just the right balance. It wasn’t too salty and the caramelized onions weren’t too sweet.

Wedge salad

My wedge salad was served with crumbled blue cheese and blue cheese dressing.

Butter warmer for the lobster tails:

One of the reasons why I enjoy coming to Fleming’s for their steak and lobster combination is the generous portions. The petite filet mignon was still quite big, just enough for one person in my opinion. The lobster tail was big too, though it doesn’t appear as big since they take it off the shell once they present the plate to you (I didn’t have time to take a picture with the tail still on).

I’ve had similar promotions at other steakhouses in the area and found the steak or lobster to be really small, but the serving sizes at Fleming’s have always been generous. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly. The lobster was still juicy and well seasoned.

The sides were also big enough to share so we chose different ones.

Sauteed green beans with mushrooms

Mashed potatoes

We opted to skip dessert as we were in a hurry to get to the movie theater and had quite a few leftover cakes sitting at home.

Overall we had a good meal here, as always. The service was attentive. The steak and lobster were well prepared. Considering a petite filet mignon is normally priced at $44, this spring break promotion is a great deal if you like dining at Fleming’s or have been wanting to check it out.

  1. That is a great spring promo!

My best friend’s bday is coming up and he wants a really good steak . I thought of this Flemings as I think their atmosphere is pretty laid back, yet sophisticated. Can you suggest of any other steak houses in SD that serves great steak but has a cool ambiance (for group of 15 or so)?

    • I like Fleming’s. Mortons downtown has a nice atmosphere too and I always like their presentation cart. Or maybe Cowboy Star.

  2. Sounds like a great deal! We’ve been to Donovan’s for steak several times, and have yet to try Fleming’s. I really enjoyed the service at Donovan’s, and that everything is not a la carte.

    • I like Donovan’s too. Though sometimes I feel like it has an “older” vibe to it. haha. And I enjoy the starter bread at Fleming’s more.

  3. Hmm… wonder if I could convince my family to head over to the Flemings at Stanford Mall before the offer expires since we have those gift cards we bought from Costco…

    • That would make the deal even sweeter! Using the discounted Costco giftcards plus the spring break promo. You should definitely convince your family
