Avocado Cream Pops

In other parts of the country it seems summer is definitely over, but here in San Diego, summer weather is still in full blast. Weather forecast is for the upper 90s this Friday so I’m still cranking out the ice pops and using my new Blendtec toy whenever I get a chance.

I’ve already made avocado ice cream, so I thought I’d try my hand at avocado cream pops. Of course you can’t make ice pops as creamy as ice cream or else they never firm up. So these are icier but still really tasty. And I love the bright natural green color created by the pureed avocados.

I blended everything in my Blendtec* and it was ready to go. Here’s finally a picture of my beloved Blendtec, my wedding present to myself. Which reminds me, to all you Californians out there, taxes on Amazon start September 15, 2012, so now is a good time to buy your big purchases that you were considering. It’s been my justification for splurging on Amazon all week.

Anyway, back to these ice pops. They tasted sweet and creamy, just like the ice cream, but sightlier icier and in a more solid form. I love making ice pops at home. There’s so many flavor combinations and you can control the ingredients going into them. For those interest in investing in an ice pop mold set, I use the Norpro Ice Pop Maker*. It can be a little tricky with the top if the sticks are too wide, but after a little wriggly it works. Up next I’m going to try some Asian flavor ones like green tea and taro.
