Kirbie's Cravings

Sugar and Scribe Bakery

Sugar & Scribe is a little bakery located in Pacific Beach. Despite its small space, it offers a wide range of goodies, including cupcakes, pies, brownies, scones, cookies, and pretty much any other dessert item. We recently discovered it and have already been back a few times.

We don’t travel a lot to the PB area, but Sugar & Scribe even has parking in the back, making it much more desirable to visit.

The baked goods are made from scratch and I enjoy the homey taste and familiarity of them.

On our last trip, we picked up some of our favorites: the quad chocolate coffee brownie, a strawberry mini pie, and the carrot cupcake.

I really adore the carrot cupcake. It’s not cloyingly sweet and let’s the carrot shine through.

Mr. K is a big fan of the mini pies. We like to heat them up and eat them with a scoop of ice cream.

Here’s an inside shot of the blueberry one we had previously.

The quad chocolate brownie sounds insanely sweet, but it surprisingly isn’t.

It’s moist and fudgy inside, without being too rich or dense.

The employees are friendly and there is a small patio outside if you want to eat your baked goods at the shop. If you’re in the area, it’s definitely worth a visit.

  1. We’ll be heading there in the very near future.

  2. I couldn’t help squealing over that adorable little mini pie. So cute and yummy looking! If I ever get the chance to visit California again, I’m definitely going to try fitting in a trip to this bakery.

  3. My husband and I ran into this shop right before they closed a few weekends ago. One of the girls that works there had been up the street at the Fish Shop selling their cupcakes and told us about it. We also got the mini pies and decided to take them home to eat with some ice cream. We very much enjoyed them and hope to go back the next time we are in San Diego!

  4. Yay! I really love this cute little bakery. I like that every recipe has a backstory to it.

  5. I’ve heard great things about this place. Their display looks beautiful too. And thank goodness for the parking in the back – that’s really hard to find in PB so thanks for the tip!
