3 Ingredient Banana Pancakes

You only need three ingredients to make these banana pancakes: flour, eggs, and mashed bananas. This is the easiest pancake recipe that only takes 20 minutes to make.

I love starting my weekends with pancakes and these 3 ingredient banana pancakes are perfect even when I’m feeling lazy. It’s such a simple easy recipe. Just mix up flour, eggs, and banana and your batter is ready to go.

  • Overripe bananas – the peels should be brown or mostly spotty. Overripe ones are easier to mash and they are also sweeter.
  • Large eggs
  • All-purpose flour or use gluten-free flour

This recipe has no added sugar. The bananas sweeten the pancakes but if you like your pancakes sweeter, I recommend adding up to a tablespoon of granulated sugar or you can pour some maple syrup over the top when you serve them.

You can also add other flavors like vanilla extract or some spices like ground cinnamon, nutmeg, or cloves.

Instructions

All you do is stir the mashed banana with the egg and flour in a large bowl.

The batter will be thick, which is fine. When you cook the pancakes, you may need to shape them into circles with a spatula.

I cook mine in a skillet over medium heat to medium-high heat with a little oil or butter. You can also cook them on a griddle. Once you spoon batter onto the hot pan, it bubbles up just like regular pancake batter. Once they are golden brown on one side, flip them over and cook them on the other side.

Tips and Variations

Be sure to mash the bananas so they are completely broken down without big chunks. Using ones that are very ripe will make this a lot easier. This will give your pancakes the best texture.

This recipe makes enough for one serving, but you can double it to make more batches.

If you want to make the pancakes ahead, you can. They freeze well. Let them cool on a sheet pan and then freeze them. Once frozen, keep them in a freezer bag. You can warm them up in the microwave, toaster oven, or regular toaster.

I loved the taste of these pancakes and I can’t wait to experiment with more variations. I think you could add your favorite chopped fruit like strawberries, blueberries, or raspberries. You could also add nuts or chocolate chips.

I still love my regular pancakes recipe, but these 3-ingredient banana pancakes are great when you don’t want to make a fuss.

  1. I think this is the best banana pancake recipe. You can make them without flour but they are hard to flip. A little flour (whole wheat is my choice) and they all turn out beautifully!?

  2. Hi i want to try van i ise coconut flour?

  3. I mash the banana on a plate with a fork first, then add it to a bowl. Fast and easy to get a good smooth mashed banana. I used this recipe in my babycakes cupcake maker. They were great. I used Bob’s GF flour, added a bit of salt and vanilla. It made 15 mini muffin. Whenever I have a ripe banana I whip up a small batch of this type of muffin; GF and banana as the only sweetener. Then I freeze them. This recipe is a keeper.

  4. hey does banana need to be ‘brown’? Can i use overoverripe bananas becuz they are sweeter? 😀

  5. wow, this is a very easy recipe. Actually, i was able to make some cupcake because of your blog. Thank you! =)

  6. could i substitute the banana for strawberries or kiwi or oranges or mango ?

  7. Very cute 🙂 Pics look great!

  8. You actually don’t even need the flour. I just use 2 eggs, one ripe but not too squishy banana, and a half tsp salt. If they’re too ripe, I make them chocolate by adding 2 tblsp of cocoa. They are a little challenging to flip if you make them too big, but it works.

  9. I like this recipe b/c I think I can get my hands on these 3 ingredients pretty easily. It kinda reminds me of your beer bread recipe from all those years ago!
