Snooze AM Eatery is one of our favorite brunch spots in San Diego and we recently stopped in for a late morning brunch, after craving it for some time.
The original San Diego location (Hillcrest) is so popular that wait times are 1+ hours on weekends, so we never visit there anymore. The Del Mar location is a little less congested and we were able to get a table within 15 minutes.
Pancake Flight (strawberry shortcake, blueberry danish, candy apple)
Every time I come here, I vow I’m going to try something new. But I can’t get away from the pancake flight. I love the variety and unique combinations. Also the pancakes here are cooked perfectly: fluffy round cakes with crisp edges.
Yes these are quite sweet and can easily be substituted as a dessert, but they are delicious. I’d recommend ordering something salty on the side.
Chile Verde Benny and Bella! Bella! Benny
We really enjoy the eggs benedict at Snooze. Mr. K loves hollandaise sauce but I’m far too lazy to make my own, so he always looks forward to ordering it here. While it’s not stated anywhere on the menu, Snooze allows you to mix and match, so Mr. K chose two different eggs benedict preparations.
The Chile Verde consists a stack of green chile sauced tortillas, slow cooked pulled pork, poached egg and green chili hollandaise, pico de gallo and cotija cheese. The egg was a little overcooked on this visit. While not completely cooked, the yolk was not runny at all. Still, I enjoyed the pulled pork and sauced tortilla base.
The Bella consists of thin slices of prosciutto, Taleggio cheese, poached egg on toasted ciabatta, topped with cream cheese hollandaise, balsamic glaze and arugula. Again, the egg was overcooked here as well. I should have taken a photo of the cross section but we were in a rush and our food had taken quite a while to arrive. It’s unfortunate because we just recommended the eggs benedict here to some friends recently, and then we experience our first overcooked poached eggs. Hopefully this was a one time fluke.
Overall, we had a decent meal here, though it wasn’t quite as good as our previous visits. Our eggs were slightly overcooked and we waited quite a long time for our food to arrive. Hopefully this was just a one-off bad day. It’s still one of our favorite brunch spots in San Diego for now.

I’m not sure if you noticed this or not, but I could swear the portions at the Del Mar location were way smaller than in Hillcrest! The prices were the same though. I’m not sure what’s up with that. ):
Oh no. =( I haven’t noticed, but then I haven’t been back to the Hillcrest one since Del Mar opened up.
I went to the Snooze in Colorado on President’s day, it was snowing quite hard. Got there around 10:30 and was told the wait would be at least an hour! At the end we were dying of hunger and couldn’t wait any long and left! So sad that I still haven’t tried this famous breakfast joint…
