Roma Express

Roma Express is one of several new vendors that recently opened in Liberty Public Market. The quick service store specialize in arancini and cannoli. They also offer Italian sodas and frozen cannoli on a stick.

The small stand is located next to the newest outpost of RakiRaki. All the food is already prepared, so you just order and take it to-go.

Arancini

I was most interested in trying their arancini which are stuffed rice balls that are rolled in breadcrumbs and deep fried. There are 6 fillings to choose from and we chose to get one of each. They place the arancini in cute egg cartons.

I quite enjoyed these and especially liked how crunchy the exterior was for each ball. My favorite filling was the spinach and mushroom.

Cannoli

I couldn’t resist trying a few of their mini cannoli. I confess I’m not a big cannoli fan. I usually find the filling to be far too sweet and can only handle a few bites. I liked how cute these were and the fun variation of fillings, but I did find them to be really sweet.

Overall, this is a nice addition to Liberty Public Market. It seems like every time I visit, a new vendor has opened! I would stop in again next time I’m in the mood for arancini.

  1. Kind of weird to call it Roma Express when those are both Sicilian specialities?

  2. It’s been way too long since I went to Liberty Public Market. The egg carton is so cute, and I like your photo of the aracini cross section.

    • aww, thanks! It’s crazy how much the market has grown and changed. I’d say we visit about once a month and every time we do there are 3-4 new places I need to try out. I only had time for Roma Express on this visit so I need to go back soon.
