Kirbie's Cravings

Trader Joe’s September Edition

It is hard to believe we are already more than halfway through September! I stopped in Trader Joe’s last weekend to check out some of their new products. Here are some of the things I bought:

Cocoa Filled Pinwheel Cookies

These cookies look as adorable as they are pictured on the box. The cookies are light and crunchy with a chocolate hazelnut cream filling. I was pleasantly surprised by the chocolate hazelnut spread since they only describe it as “cocoa cream” on the box, but a quick scan of the ingredients confirms the hazelnut. I would definitely get these again.

Just Coconut Chunks

Found in the frozen food aisle, these are pure chunks of frozen coconut. I’ve just been snacking on them so far, but I might add some to a curry soup next time.

Cornbread Crisps

I was pretty excited for these as I love cornbread but never get enough of it during the holidays since no one else in my family shares my fondness for cornbread. These crisps didn’t quite do it for me. They are sweet and salty and have a light cornbread flavor. I wished they had a stronger corn flavor.

Gluten Free Cheese Pizza with Cauliflower Crust

I bought the featured Cauliflower Crust last month and I really enjoyed it. I was planning on buying it again but then saw this newer version and bought this instead. I haven’t yet had a chance to eat it yet though.

Butternut Squash Zig-Zags

Not a new item, but my first time seeing and buying them. I love the fun shape and plan on making them into butternut squash fries.

Secco Grapefruit | Secco Mango

I bought these on a recent Trader Joe’s trip with my family. My mom commented on how pretty the bottles were, so we decided to try them. They are sparkling wines mixed with sweet fruit juice. I love the colors, but they aren’t something I’d buy regularly.

Calamansi Cooler | Matcha Green Tea

These are two fairly new products that came out a few months ago and my friend CC gifted them to me. I really enjoyed them both. I thought the calamansi cooler was just the right balance of citrus and sweet. It tasted quite refreshing.

I also enjoyed the matcha green tea. I prefer my matcha tea to be unsweetened, so this is perfect for me.

That’s all for now. Of course the very next day I came across some other new products I missed which I now need to go back for. I also want to get the mango sticky rice spring rolls. My husband convinced me not to get them and I’ve been regretting it ever since. As always, please let me know in the comments if you have any favorites you’d recommend!

  1. How did the sparkling wines taste, Jen? Why wouldn’t you buy them again? Too sweet?

    • The only reason I wouldn’t buy them again is that I found them to be too sweet for me personally. I don’t drink a lot of sweet or fruity wines and these are basically juice mixed with sparkling wine.

  2. I saw those butternut squash zig zags but didn’t get them. I want tp pick up a bag mext time I go along with those stuffed pinwheel cookies. Glad you liked the calamansi and green tea drinks.

  3. I love your Trader Joes’ posts and look forward to them every month!

  4. I just came back from Trader Joe’s, but didn’t get anything too exciting. The only new item I got was Zaatar Goat Cheese. I will have to look for the mango sticky rolls. I love mango sticky rice from the Thai restaurant.

  5. I put the butternut zig-zags into chili instead of beans and it was soooo good!! Can’t wait to try the matcha and coconut chunks! Headed there this weekend!
