Et Voilà! French Bistro

photo of the outside of Et Voilà! French Bistro Et Voilà! French Bistro opened earlier last month and I recently had brunch there with my good friend CC of Pink Candles at Ridgemont High. The modern French bistro features classic French dishes.

CC started her brunch with a champagne cocktail mixed with guava puree. I usually like cocktails during brunch but I’m such a lightweight and I was driving, so I didn’t order one. I’ll have to come back again with Mr. K so I can indulge in a cocktail.

Crab Omelette

I chose a crab omelette. It was served with a side of mixed greens salad. The omelette was fluffy and tender and filled with crab meat cooked in a tomato sauce. I was surprised and happy with the generous crab filling which was also quite flavorful.

Tartine du Jour

CC ordered the tartine of the day, which was a prosciutto and mushroom one, topped with cheese and caramelized onions, and served on toasted fig bread. She let me have a bite and I thought the open-faced sandwich was nicely balanced.

For dessert, we shared paris-brest, wheel shaped choux pastry filled with a praline cream. Conveniently, there are two in one order. They were also served with a side of chocolate sauce.

While not quite as pretty as other versions I’ve seen, I enjoyed the lightness and crispy edges of the choux pastry. I found the praline cream a little bit too sweet for my liking.

Overall, we had a pretty good first meal here and I do want to return and try some more items. The service was nice and the atmosphere is open and inviting. I thought the prices were also pretty reasonable and one of my favorite coffee shops, Hawthorne Coffee, is right next door too.

You can check out CC’s post of our visit here.
