Kirbie's Cravings

Trader Joe’s June Edition

The latest Fearless Flyer from Trader Joe’s recently came out and of course I had to make a few trips to get some of the featured items.

Brewed Ginger Beer

We love the new ginger beer offered by Trader Joe’s. With pieces of ginger floating inside, this non-alcoholic ginger beer has a good punch to it. We previously enjoyed the triple brewed ginger beer that Trader Joe’s offered over the holidays, but what I like about this one is the individual serving sizes. We plan on going back to Trader Joe’s again really soon to stock up on more.

Ts & Js Sour Gummies

I like the “T” and “J” shapes, which are quite cute. I do wish they came in other flavors other than a citrus variety which aren’t my favorite flavors when it comes to gummy candies.

Mozzarella Cheese Log

I originally bought this in anticipation of eating it with tomatoes from my garden but they are taking their sweet time ripening. The cheese log makes it easier to slice for a caprese appetizer or salad. Luckily for me, TJ is also featuring Villagio Marzano® Tomatoes this month, so I was able to pick up a bag to eat with the cheese.

These are mini versions of San Marzano tomato, grown in greenhouses in the U.S. and Canada, rather than in Italy. They are quite sweet, and the sweetness is enhanced even more by the balsamic vinegar.

Aged Balsamic Vinegar of Modena

I’m no balsamic vinegar expert as I usually stay as far away from it as possible other than when eating it with a caprese salad, so I won’t comment on the quality, but it did work nicely with the appetizer I made.

Basil Plant

I purchased one of these enormous basil plants last year and it thrived in my garden bed. I was excited to purchase a new one to add to my garden for this year. This plant already had so many basil leaves that I was also able to use it in my appetizer dish.

Baconesque White Cheddar Popcorn

While not featured this month, it’s been on my to-do list. The popcorn is quite flavorful. It’s very cheesy with a hint of salty smoky bacon.

Hollows & Fentiman’s Alcoholic Ginger Beer

We also picked up this alcoholic ginger beer. We haven’t yet opened it yet though.

That’s it for now! Happy Wednesday everyone!

  1. Ooh let me know how’s the alcoholic ginger beer! I’ll have to try some of the baconesque popcorn, too =)

  2. The alcoholic ginger beer is addictively drinkable!

  3. I bought their ginger beer too! We make Moscow Mules semi often and we like having ginger beer on hand. I also like my ginger beer quite ginger-y.

Haven’t seen those tomatoes at my TJ’s but excited to eat them in caprese salad as well 🙂

    • I’ve never made moscow mules, though after we drank the ginger beers, I’ve been wanting to make them! I need to get the proper glasses first though.

  4. I haven’t received the Fearless Flyer, but I was planning to stop at TJ’s today. I have bought the round mozzarella balls to make the caprese appetizer, and I usually buy the log for panini. When I first bought the baconesque popcorn, I didn’t like it at first, then I became addicted to it!

    • you know i didn’t get mine either, but I happened to be there over the weekend and saw it was out and then I ended up going back again after I read through the flyer I picked up at the store.

  5. OMG I am in the mood for caprese salad now!!! I will have to make my way through traffic to get to the Scripps location ASAP!!

    • haha. It’s so good isn’t it? Especially in the summer. We had it for the first time in Italy 3 years ago and we became obsessed. Had to order it everywhere we went and now we make it at home whenever we can too
