Colorful Tea Eggs

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Course: Appetizer
Cuisine: American
These colorful eggs are inspired by traditional Chinese tea eggs.

  • hard boiled eggs
  • food coloring in various colors I used red, blue and yellow. I wouldn't use yellow again

  1. Gently tap the hard boiled eggs on the edge of your kitchen counter, until there are cracks all over the shell, but you don't want the shell to come off.
  2. Boil a small pot of water. Add a few drops of red food coloring into the pot, then add in a few of the eggs and simmer at a low boil for about 5-10 minutes.
  3. Pour out the red water, clean pot and then repeat process with the other colors.
  4. Once the eggs are cooled, you can peel the shell and serve the eggs.
