This blooming onion pizza bread is like eating pizza breadsticks in a much more fun form. They taste great on their own or dipped with some marinara sauce. The bread breaks away easily from the loaf and each breadstick is covered in cheese and seasoning.
Roll pizza dough into two large oval-shaped loaves. Bake at 425°F for about 20 minutes or until bread dough is cooked through completely.
Make vertical slices across the dough, deep enough until they are about 1/2 inch from the bottom of the bread. Then make horizontal slices across the bread.
Sprinkle top of bread with mozzarella cheese. Tuck shredded cheese in between each of the cuts. Sprinkle seasoning on bread.
Put bread back in oven and bake for another five minutes so that the cheese melts onto the bread. Serve warm with a side of marinara sauce for dipping
Notes
I used a pizza dough recipe from Simply Recipes, which was enough to make two loaves.
