This homemade, do-it-yourself coffee soda is so simple to make and a really fun way to enjoy your coffee.
Last weekend I was having lunch with my friend CC and she ordered a bottle of coffee soda, which she generously let me sample. She commented that we could probably recreate it at home, which is what I ended up doing.
I’ve made this several times now, with different coffee variations. I did it with espresso shots using my Nespresso machine, concentrated cold brew and also regular strong brewed coffee. If you’re a coffee drinker, it’s definitely worth trying out.
For the regular strong brewed version, I used Dark French Fair Trade beans from Capricorn Coffees in San Francisco, also a gift from CC. The beans are so gorgeous, I just had to share a photo.
Morning espresso, afternoon cold brew, evening tea, and now coffee soda. This probably explains why I’ve had so much energy this summer…
I can’t believe it’s already August. There are still so many summery things I want to do. I always felt summer went by so fast as a kid, but it feels equally fast now as an adult. One thing I won’t miss though, are all these summer break-ups. I know I shouldn’t care about celebrities who I don’t even know, but I can’t help it. All these divorce announcements and nanny scandals are really bumming me out.
Luckily, I’m attending a wedding this weekend. Random tidbit, did you know that if you send a wedding invitation to the White House, you actually get a response back? Our friends did it and they got a lovely congratulatory note on their upcoming wedding, with signatures from both the President and the First Lady. I wish I had known to do that for my wedding.

I knew you would come up with the “Kirbie” version! 🙂 Glad you liked the Capricorn beans. We still have to use ours, haha. Now I can use your recipe to make mine!
I’m glad we tried that soda at Soda & Swine. That coffee soda itself has such an interesting (but tragic) history. It probably would’ve tasted better iced.
One of our friends invited the rock group Van Halen to their wedding (this was 20 years ago). The groom (Bert’s best friend since kindergarten) was and still is a big VH fan. The group didn’t go, of course, but sent them a very nice reply. That would’ve been awesome if they went! I love Eddie VH, haha!
oh that’s pretty cool! Thanks for ordering that soda for us to try. now I can keep drinking coffee sodas this summer =)
Did not know that, about the wedding invitation. Hmmmm ! and this coffee soda sounds intriguing. Will have to try this very soon ~
it’s a nice little souvenir. My husband was saying we could still technically do it, just send an invite over there. haha!
