QQ Noodle is a popular restaurant located in the Bay Area specializing in fresh, house-made noodles. We ate here a few times during my last few trips home because of my obsession with fresh noodles.
QQ is a Taiwanese term used to describe a chewy texture. You’ll often see the word associated with the tapioca in milk tea.
The menu here is pretty extensive, with a wide range of different noodle dishes. Here are some of the dishes my family got on our last few visits:
Garlic Sauce with Pork, extra wide noodles
Lamb Noodle Soup
Braised Beef Noodle Soup
Special Hot Oil Noodles
Spare ribs soup with noodles
Here is the version with thin noodles
Dry Soybean Paste Sauce Noodles
Overall, the highlight of this place is definitely the noodles. Each bowl has a generous portion of bouncy, chewy noodles. The precision of the cut of the noodles leads me to think that they are actually using a machine somewhere in the process and not completely doing everything by hand. However, the dishes themselves are just decent. With such a diverse menu, the restaurant isn’t really focusing on perfecting any of their recipes– instead they seem to be concentrating on how to quickly produce decent versions of the many dishes offered. Still, I’d come back just for the noodles. My favorite ones so far have been the lamb and the spare ribs.
