No one in my family likes gingerbread men other than me. But I can’t imagine taking them off my holiday baking list. I just love how gingerbread look and I like the flavors and crunchy cookies.
Last year, I spent a lot of time decorating my gingerbread family cookies, but afterward I couldn’t bite into them without feeling extremely guilty. This year I needed to remedy that.
I found holiday message in a cookie cutters from William Sonoma that come in three holiday shapes, including a gingerbread cut out. I think the gingerbread cut out is cute since the gingerbread already have smiling faces on them. Since I didn’t have to do additional decorating, I felt a little less attached to these cookies and was able to eat them.
I love how cute these gingerbread men look and I like that I was able to write different messages on the body of the cookies. Recently I did a giveaway for the regular William Sonoma message in a cookie cutters and I asked readers to tell me what messages they would put on the cookies. I got a lot of great responses which I plan on using soon. For this test run, I took a few of the messages. The cookies say “Happy Holidays,” “Eat Me,” “Nom Nom” and “Don’t Eat Me.” The little baby gingerbread kids have “Hi” written on their tummys.
I’m a big Hello Kitty fan, so when I saw Hello Kitty dressed up in a gingerbread outfit I had to get it. =)
I used the same recipe as last year, which can be found here.
don’t eat me is TOO freakin funny! they should make cookie cut outs like this that are heart shaped so you could make cookies that look like sweetheart candies. i have to keep an eye for this next year!
Oh actually they do! William Sonoma has a Christmas set but it also has a regular set that has the heart ones. I was thinking of making conversation heart cookies, but didn’t get around to it for Vday.
Yeah, not a lot of selection. Places I’ve been able to find Hello Kitty besides the Sanrio stores are the Trendy shop inside Mitsuwa, and at Marukai Living. I’ve also heard that Morning Glory on Convoy and J & J Fancy Gift in Chula Vista carry Sanrio stuff. You probably already know all this though 🙂
The cookies look super cute! Especially with the gingerbread HK!!
Those are adorable! I LOVE all things Hello Kitty too. I recently went on a search to find all the Hello Kitty related stores in San Diego 🙂
Sadly, there aren’t too many =( I found this one at the little shop inside the Ranch 99 market. They usually have the latest Sanrio offerings of Hello Kitty dolls
Um….*squee*.
I don’t understand how people don’t like gingerbread!?!?! Especially ones that say “DON’T EAT ME!!”
Love the Hello Kitty. 🙂
Heehee, love how cute gingerbread men are =)
Wait so who won the williams sonoma cutouts?! I’ve been watching this one very carefully, it’s the one I want to win the most! These cookies are SO FREAKING CUTE. Are those cutouts hard to use? I think i’m gonna get them. I saw that they have christmas ones too…
Leanne actually won the cookie cutters. Sorry you didn’t win =( The cookie cut outs aren’t hard to use. It’s a little time consuming if you want a lot of diff messages though. I don’t know if the holiday ones are available anymore. I happened to see them online, and was able to put one on hold at my local store, but now it looks like they are no longer online. The regular ones are still available though and work for any occasion.
Those cookie cutters are too cute! But they’re a great idea to make gingerbread cookies that are different without investing time to decorate.
I’m the only one in my family who likes gingerbread, too.
Yeah, I love the personalized messages. I don’t know if these cookie cutters are available anymore though. I saw them online, then called up my local store and asked them to put it on hold. i didn’t see any other in the store and now I don’t see them online either.
Super cute! i love how obvious the imprints are! I made your vanilla yogurt cakelets in a heart shaped mold too. They were moist and delicious! 🙂
Glad to hear the vanilla yogurt cakelets came out well for you!
