Del Taco recently released a trio of new premium burritos, ranging between 14.0 to 18.5 ounces in weight.
I was invited to taste all three burritos and was also given a few gift cards so my readers can try them too.
During our visit, we also got to try a few other fairly new menu items.
Cheddar Potato Poppers
Mr. K really loved these. The breading was crunchy, the inside oozing with melted cheese and jalapenos. It was a nice take on the jalapeno popper and we’d get it again.
The epic burritos are indeed quite big and hefty. One will definitely keep you full. They are priced starting at $4.99, with the steak fajita priced slightly higher.
Epic Chicken Fajita Burrito ($4.99 for chicken, $5.29 for steak)
We got the grilled chicken version. The burrito was stuffed with pinto beans, cotija cheese, lime rice, black beans, sour cream and guacamole. I thought that this burrito reminded me a lot of the style of burritos offered at Chipotle and this was my favorite of the three.
Epic Chicken Chipotle Ranch Burrito
This was Mr. K’s favorite. It’s filled with lime rice, chipotle and ranch sauce, bacon, cheddar cheese, lettuce, guacamole and salsa. I thought the ranch dressing inside the burrito took a little getting used to, but that was Mr. K’s favorite part. It definitely made the chicken creamy and tangy.
Epic Steak & Potato Burrito
This burrito was filled with carne asada steak, crinkle cut fries, chipotle sauce, bacon, cheddar cheese and sour cream. I appreciated the crunchy fries, but this burrito was a little one dimensional in flavor for me. I wish it had salsa and guacamole, making it more like a California burrito.
Chicken Crunchtada
We had the plain crunchtada shortly after it was introduced to Del Taco’s menu. I’m a big tostada lover, so I loved that Del Taco came out with a version for just $1. On this burrito tasting visit, they let us try the chicken topped one. It was almost like a pizza but on a very crunchy and thick tostada. I enjoyed this even better than the plain one. We’ll definitely be getting this one again. And how pretty does that melted cheese look?
Cheesecake Bites
We ended our meal tasting with some cheesecake bites. The cheesecake is wrapped in egg roll wrappers and deep fried. Warm, crunchy on the outside and creamy on the inside, these were pretty good. I’m going to have to try to replicate it at home.
Now onto the giveaway. I’m giving away five $5 gift cards to Del Taco so some of my readers can try the epic burritos. All the rules are posted in the giveaway box, but basically leave a comment in the Promo Simple box telling me which burrito flavor you are most interested in trying.
