Cookies and Cream Hot Chocolate- A twist on the traditional hot chocolate drink, this one is flavored with crushed and melted Oreo cookies.
We’ve been consuming a lot of hot chocolate drinks lately. Nutella hot chocolate, regular hot cocoa, and most recently: cookies and cream hot chocolate.
The drink is made with crushed Oreos and milk. The chocolate cookies don’t completely melt into the drink, but that’s okay. The cookie crumbs add a little texture to the drink, which we enjoy.
Oreo hot chocolate is a delicious way to have hot chocolate with a cookies and cream twist.
Ingredients
- Milk
- Sweetened cocoa powder
- Finely ground Oreo cookies
Milk: Like regular hot chocolate recipes, any kind of milk will work. For a richer, creamier drink use whole milk. The less fat the milk has the less rich it will be. You can also use dairy-free milk like almond milk or oat milk.
Oreos: The easiest way to crush the cookies is in a food processor.
Instructions
Warm the milk in a small saucepan over medium-low heat on the stove. Once it’s warmed (not boiling), adjust the heat to low and add the cocoa powder and stir until it dissolves. Mix in the Oreos crumbs.
Simmer the mixture on low heat until it thickens. Pour the hot chocolate into mugs and enjoy it right away.
Recipe Tips and Variations
Oreos: There are so many kinds of Oreos now you can use all kinds of flavors to put a spin on this drink. I think mint cookies would work well, too.
Garnishes: Add some mini marshmallows or some whipped cream for a topping. If you want a fancy drink, garnish with a drizzle of chocolate syrup, a dusting of cocoa powder, or even a crushed candy cane for a holiday hot chocolate.
I love the foamy milk that surfaces to the top, which actually formed a yin-yang-like pattern with the black and white circle on top. This is such a cozy drink for a cold winter day. I hope you give it a try.

This is one of many reasons why YOU ROCK.
Before we got a microwave, I remember heating milk on the stove; it was ready when a skin formed!
I’ve no food processor so I’ll put it in a bag and crunch it with a back of spooon or rolling pin.
make sure you finely grind them so you don’t end up swallowing large chunks of cookies.
