Red Velvet Hot Chocolate

I hadn’t intended to make so many Valentine’s Day themed desserts but I’ve been on a serious red velvet cake kick lately. So the other day, I decided to turn it into a drink.

Red velvet hot chocolate! Perfect for the cold weather and upcoming holiday.

This is easy to make and I topped it with some pink heart shaped marshmallows I found at the grocery store. The marshmallows are actually strawberry flavored but they taste pretty good with the hot chocolate.

Of course regular mini marshmallows work too.

Red velvet hot chocolate! The perfect way to keep warm on Valentine's Day.

  • 2 tbsp red velvet cake mix
  • 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1-2 tsp sugar to taste
  • 1 1/2 cups hot water

  1. Boil/heat water. In a large oversized mug, add the cake mix, cocoa powder and sugar. Pour in the boiling water and stir with spoon until cake mix and cocoa powder are completely dissolved. Top with marshmallows and drink up.

  1. You can never go wrong with red velvet anything 🙂

  2. This recipe looks tasty, and I can’t stop thinking about your table! It’s such a unique material, very pretty.

    • The table is made of reclaimed wood. It took me a while to find the wood I was looking for, but I finally found it and it was a DIY project. =)
