Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there!
I’ve received some delicious food gifts recently and the photos have been collecting on my hard drive, so I thought it was time to share some. One of the great things about being friends with other people who love food is that you often get gifted with food when you meet up.
CC recently went to the Bay Area and she returned with some food gifts for me!
These colorful items are Silvanas, a cookie version of a the Filipino “Sans Rival” cake. The cookie consists layer of buttercream sandwiched between two cashew-meringue wafers coated with cookie crumbs. These almost reminded me of macarons and I loved trying out so many flavors, plus they were so pretty! Mr. K said he’s never had these before, so we really enjoyed these.
I love that CC shares my obsession with macarons. These were so cute! And some of them even had mixed flavors, as you can see with the two different colored shells.
During my meet-up with CC, we also exchanged some food gifts/birthday presents.
She knows I love Tokidoki so she got me a Tokidoki bag and stationary. There was also a giant coffee crisp bar which I’m obsessed with (a popular candy in Canada but she found it at Big Ben’s Specialty Market in National City; it tastes like a coffee flavored Kit Kat.), matcha chocolates, giant white kit kat (with a cute android on the packaging), Smarties chocolates, a mini Japanese sauce plate (I’ve been using it as a chopsticks holder. You may recognize it in some of my photos), and a 3-D birthday card.
I’ve never had seen such a cute card before!
After my recent dinner with Kirk, he gave me some great food gifts to try.
The honey roasted macadamia nuts are not available in San Diego, so I loved trying the flavor. The spicy peanuts were so addicting. Kirk got them at T&L and I immediately went and bought a bunch. The peanuts aren’t too spicy, but are flavored with peppercorns, giving you that slight tingling/numbing feeling when you’re eating them. I also loved the apron, especially the recipe. Lots of frying involved. heehee.
Mini Fruit Cheesecakes
My friend Pinoy Panda made these for a party and gave me some when I had dinner with him recently. Delicious!
That’s it for now. I hope everyone is having a great weekend!
