Cold Brew Vietnamese Iced Coffee

This Vietnamese-style inspired coffee combines concentrated cold-brewed coffee with ice and condensed milk, for a cold and refreshing drink.

Traditionally Vietnamese iced coffee is made with a stainless steel metal filter. I know this is not that. But it does also have a concentrated brew coffee and condensed milk.

I’ve discussed how much we love cold brew coffee. The lower acidity level is better for my stomach and since it’s summer, cold drinks are definitely preferred.

It’s been so hot this summer I don’t think I’ve been thinking straight, which has led to me being very accident prone lately. It all started last week when I went for my annual physical and they also gave me some booster shots. As the medical assistant placed a Band-Aid on me, it occurred to me that I haven’t needed one in over a year. I’m pretty sure about the timing too because I got these adorable Hello Kitty bandages and I haven’t had any chances to use them.

So then I went home, got out of my car, and walked straight into a storage box. I didn’t think I hit it that hard, but my leg showed differently as it immediately started swelling up and there was some skin missing. Three days later, I was casually using throwing a candy wrapper into the garbage and used my foot to step on the pedal to open it, when I felt a little stab of pain. I didn’t think much of it, but after a few minutes, I looked down and it was gushing blood. I had somehow cut my foot on the pedal. So, now I’m trying to be extra careful. I will say though, having the Hello Kitty Band-Aids at least made me feel slightly better and they look way nicer than regular ugly brown Band-Aids.

So yes, I blame the heat for my sudden clumsiness. Also for my loss of appetite. All I want to do lately is drink really cold drinks, which is why these coffees are so nice. And since cold brew is so popular now, you don’t even have to make your own (though you can do that easily too). You can buy a concentrated cold brew at the grocery store or from your favorite coffee shop. I currently get my supply at Mostra Coffee. The other day I went in for one cup of coffee and somehow left with a 64 oz growler. I’ve never even owned a growler before.

Total Time: 5 minutes
Course: Drinks
Cuisine: Vietnamese
This Vietnamese-style inspired coffee combines concentrated cold-brewed coffee with ice and condensed milk, for a cold and refreshing drink. If you buy cold-brewed coffee this drink takes only minutes to make. If you want to brew your own cold brew (see the recipe link in the notes) you'll need to do so in advance.

Ingredients

  • 6 oz concentrated cold brew coffee (see note)
  • 2 tbsp sweetened condensed milk (see note)
  • ice

Instructions

  • Fill a tall glass with ice. Add in coffee and then pour in condensed milk. Stir until completely mixed.

Notes

  • You can make your own cold brew coffee or look for bottles of it at the store already made.
  • I like my coffee with about 2 tablespoons of condensed milk, but depending on how sweet you want yours, you may want to adjust the amount.

  1. I have the same band aids, haha. Only downside is when the bf needed one and when I produced a pink and lilac bandaid with Hello Kitty’s face on it he refused to put it on and said he’d rather take his chances and just put some Neosporin on it. His loss 🙂

    • haha! They actually worked really well. I finally caved into using a regular one for a few hours because Mr. K was saying the HK ones were being wasted indoors and it kept unraveling and leaving that sticky gummy residue behind on my skin.

  2. Completely understand the heat/humidity less hungry phenomenon-this weather is crazy.  What?!!! A coffee growler?  Now I must stop at Mostra; thanks for this post.

    • Yes this weather is weirding me out. But yeah, they have growlers! I don’t even know quite what happened. I was ordering a regular bottle and they mentioned that since I seem to come in often for refills it’s actually cheaper to get the growler. Once you finish it, you bring it back and they refill for you for a cheaper price (sorry can’t recall how much). So it all made sense and suddenly I went home with a growler of coffee. lol.
