This easy mug cake tastes just like melted Reese’s peanut butter cups in cake form.
Over the weekend, I shared my new love for Reese’s chocolate peanut butter spread on Instagram. Have you tried it yet? If you love peanut butter cups, I highly recommend you go and get yourself this spread. It’s available at Walmart and it tastes just like melted peanut butter cups. And I mean it really tastes like the melted candy, rather than just chocolate and peanut butter. I’ve had chocolate peanut butter spread but it’s not the same. The Reese’spread even has a slight graininess from the peanut butter cup filling that is in the candy.
Eating this made me nostalgic because peanut butter cups was my absolute favorite candy growing up. After enjoying the spread by the spoonful for breakfast (because I’m an adult so I can do fun things like that), I really wanted to make something with it. But something small, because I would be really sad if I used up an entire container of this delicious spread. So I made a mug cake.
By the way, you see the giant spoonful of spread I scooped out for the photo above? Mr. K ate it before I could! I need to be quicker!
This mug cake was delicious. Almost as good as eating the spread by itself. I need to go stock up on more spread.
And if you enjoy my mug cakes, don’t forget I have a new mug cake cookbook. It’s also a great gift idea for the holidays!

Hello ! i just wanted to thank you for this AMAZING blog ! i love it <3 i really love mug cakes and i am happy you made this ( i am a big fan of PB and Reese's PB cups ) i don't have Reese's spread :"( but i will find a substitute , so thank you again for making this and keep up !
thank you for your kind words!
I had a feeling something like this would appear on your blog soon 🙂 I love that little graininess from the peanut butter that you can taste in the spread. I want to play around with some recipes, but on the other hand, I just want to eat it out of the jar…
Haha, I must turn everything into a mug cake! The jar is small. If they had a Costco sized one, I’d be more willing to bake with it. otherwise, I just want to keep eating it plain
Wow, I have to buy this! I was just at Walmart in Eastlake and they didn’t have it.
🙁
aw =( I found it at the Walmart in Encinitas, which is a really big one. The one that I usually go to in Kearny mesa is pretty small and usually doesn’t have the new items I’m looking for.
This is OMG delicious!! I need that spread.
I am planning on going and buying a bunch more. I need some for reserve!
Mug cakes are just my favourite go to dessert for when I am craving something comforting. Definitely need to try out your reeses version, it looks and sounds delicious!
me too =) so simple to make
