Since opening last summer, Breakfast Republic has become one of the most popular brunch places in San Diego. We recently visited over the holidays, braved the long lines, and completely fell in love with this brunch spot.
Mimosas! Because no great story started with someone eating a salad.
Reading over the menu, I could barely contain my excitement. I honestly wanted to try nearly every single item listed and have never seen so many of my favorite brunch items all offered in one spot. Coffee flight, pancake flights, French toast flights, beer and sausage samplers, benedicts, scrambles, breakfast mac n cheese, chicken wing bowl, are just some of the mouth-watering items you have to choose from.
Caffeine Overdose
We started their coffee flight, with 4 oz samplers of their latte, mocha and mexican mocha. The mini drinks were quite cute and were a fun way to start our meal.
Peppermint White Chocolate Mocha
Every month they have a coffee special and this epic creation is the one for January. I managed to snap one photo before some of the toppings fell off my cup.
S’more French Toast
I really wanted to try a pancake flight and a French toast flight but ultimately decided it would be too much food. Next time! In the end, I selected the S’more French Test. I really enjoyed the look of those toasted mini marshmallows on top.
Breakfast Jambalaya
Shrimp, linguisa sausage, rice, peppers and topped with three eggs any style, this was a hearty brunch option for Mr. K and he thoroughly enjoyed every bite. I thought the dish was well seasoned, with a generous amount of sausage and shrimp throughout.
Overall, we had a really nice first meal here and we can’t wait to come back so we can try the rest of the menu. There were so many dishes I wanted to try that we simply didn’t have room for. The only downside is that they don’t take reservations and the restaurant is very popular. We waited about 40 minutes on our visit.

This place always has a long line whenever I pass by. I know my husband would like that breakfast jambalaya.
I know you wouldn’t like the wait! but I think you and your husband would enjoy the food
Omigosh! I love breakfast places! This one is calling my name….if only NC wasn’t clear across the country. I must try to replicate the French toast:)
I’m going to try making the French toast as well =)
I’ve been wanting to try this place too! Hmm it sounds like it would be a great place to visit with some friends who would make the wait less boring, and order more things! *wink wink*
haha, I’d love to come back with you guys!
Everything looks yummy! I will try this soon – preferably not on a holidya weekend!
haha, yeah def avoid the busy times!
That is some awesome looking french toast!
I loved the presentation!
I love new places and hate lines so the first thing I do before placing my name on a list is ask if they have open seating. BR actually has a couple of stools right in front of where they expedite the food.
the stools actually were all occupied too! I would have been fine sitting there esp since I prefer natural lighting for my photos. Of course I went during a holiday weekend which might be why it was so packed. Thanks for sharing though!
