These easy oatmeal cookies are just 3 ingredients and don’t contain any flour, eggs, added sugar, butter or oil. The cookies are soft and chewy and packed with oats and raisins. They are an easy one-bowl recipe and take only about ten minutes to prepare.
These oatmeal raisin cookies make a great snack. I love that they are so easy to make and they store well in the fridge for a few days.
Ingredients
- Rolled Oats
- Applesauce
- Raisins
Rolled Oats: These cookies are made with rolled oats, also known as old-fashioned oats. This recipe will not work steel-cut oats.
Applesauce: I used unsweetened applesauce in these cookies. You can use sweetened, but it’s not really necessary because the cookies are fairly sweet with just unsweetened applesauce and raisins. If you like cinnamon in your oatmeal raisin cookies, you can use unsweetened cinnamon applesauce. Or you can add a little cinnamon to your batter. You will taste the apples in these cookies but I think it works well with the raisins. If you need a substitute for applesauce, you can use mashed bananas like in my 3 Ingredient Healthy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies.
Raisins: The cookies are naturally sweetened with raisins. Raisins are quite sweet so the cookies do taste sweet even without any added sugar.
Oatmeal Raisin Cookie Texture
These cookies are very soft and a little bit chewy (from the oats and raisins). They don’t have your classic oatmeal cookie texture, but that is because this is a healthier version with very few ingredients. They are still quite enjoyable.

3 Ingredient Oatmeal Raisin Cookies
Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cups (106 g) rolled oats
- 8 oz (288 g) unsweetened applesauce
- 1/4 cup (34 g) raisins roughly chopped
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine oats and applesauce. Stir with a spatula until all the oats are coated in applesauce and the ingredients are evenly mixed. Stir in the raisins until they are evenly incorporated. Your dough will be very wet and loose. This is normal.
- Using a 1.5 tbsp cookie scoop, scoop cookie dough and release onto your prepared baking sheet, spaced 1.5 inches apart. Use the palm of your hand to press down on each cookie dough ball so that it forms a thick round disk. You may need to shape the sides of the cookie with your hands to make them round. Cookies will not spread during baking so you want to shape the cookies to how you want the final product to be.
- Bake cookies for about 15 minutes. Let cookies cool on baking sheet. Once cookies are cooled, remove cookies using a thin cookie spatula. Store uneaten cookies at room temperature for 1-2 days or longer in the fridge or freezer.
Notes
- I made these cookies with unsweetened applesauce. If you like cinnamon in your oatmeal cookies you can use unsweetened cinnamon applesauce or add 1/2 tsp of cinnamon to your batter.
- 8 oz of applesauce refers to the weight.
- I chopped the raisins so that they can be more evenly distributed in the cookies. You can also add chopped nuts.

How many calories would be in these if you substitute bananas for the apple sauce?
The amount of applesauce for this recipe is approximately 118 calories (just for the applesauce, not the other ingredients) and if you substitute bananas it would be approximately 253 calories (just for the bananas, not the other ingredients)!
Hi Thank you I just started baking at 65 years young I can cook like no one’s business but baking another story. I love this recipe! More please Thanks again. Gloria

Great cookie
Thanks!
May I know any substitution for applesauce as I can’t get it from my place. Thanks
As mentioned in the post, you can use bananas – please see the Ingredients section for more info.
Hello…do I have to refrigerate the cookies?
You can store the cookies at room temperature for 1-2 days or longer in the fridge or freezer.
Delicious.
My husband is diabetic so they are perfect. Can’t wait to try with nuts and cinnamon or maybe a little nutmeg
So glad you enjoyed them!
Great recipe! If I want to add sugar how much would you recommend?
We haven’t tried adding sugar, but you can try using sweetened applesauce.
Absolutely tasty cookies! Thank you so much for your recipe. I didn’t even measure anything. I used a fresh apple, peeled it and blended it in place of the apple sauce. I added nuts and cinnamon. So good and truly healthy. Sincerely 😉
So glad you enjoy the cookies! Thanks for sharing your adjustments, too.
I love ? your recipe ? and thanks ? ? so much ? ? ? ? for sharing ? ?
You’re welcome!
I baked the cookies longer than 15 minutes and they were still too moist. Not much flavor. Very bland. This is a no go recipe for my family.
We’re sorry that you didn’t enjoy them. If they were too moist you might have added too much applesauce or maybe they needed more time in the oven.
Is there any substitute that you can use for raisins like dried cranberries Darlene
Dried cranberries would work great!
I made the 3 ingredient oatmeal raisin cookies. Vert easy to make. I left them cool on the rack. About 15 minutes later decided to try one, the bottoms were very wet. Moved them to cooling rack & tried one again, still very moist. The tops look great, we will eat as is since no eggs involved. I will try again & perhaps cook longer. Do have any suggestions as to what happened.
You might need to bake them a little longer.
Want to try soon my friend made no bake cookies before they were great can’t wait to makke
We hope you enjoy them!

I made these for breakfast with the help of my 4 year old. Easy recipe and I love that he could safely eat the raw batter while making the cookies. They definitely have an apple flavor to them and are soft and a bit chewy. I added some chopped nuts and seeds to them which added good texture. We will be making them again, thanks for the recipe!
I’m glad you were able to make this with your 4 year old!
Old fashion oats or quick oats?
Old fashioned oats are the same as rolled oats – hope that helps!
Excellent
I’m glad you enjoyed!

How do you make soft oatmeal cookies? Thanks for any advice you have.
This recipe is meant to be a little chewy and not soft like traditional oatmeal cookies.
Love your limited simple Ingredients.
Glad you’re enjoying the recipes!
Easy receipe and nutrition Thanks for sharing.
I hope you liked it!
How did you chop the raisins?
You can pulse them a few times in a food processor or chop them by hand with a knife. Just pile them on a cutting board and run your knife through them a few times.
I have gluten free anddiabetics among my family. This is perfect!
I can’t wait to use these resapies vary healthy.
Thank you for this. We are trying to cut out sugar completely. But I understand there is sugar in food. I mean just stop buying bags of sugar.
I used cinnamon apple sauce in my cookies and they were delicious. No worries, I can still watch my figure and stick to my diet despite eating a lot of them.
I’m glad they worked out for you!
