Amex Offers and a $100 Giveaway

I love finding extra ways to save: from personalized grocery store deals to extra cash back categories on credit card purchases. Late last year, I discovered Amex Offers, a program that American Express customers can enroll in. I’ll be explaining Amex Offers in more detail in this post and all the ways I’ve saved using it. At the end of this post I’m also hosting a giveaway, courtesy of American Express and Blogher. One lucky winner from my blog will receive a $100.00 AmericanExpress® GiftCard!

Amex Offers provides you with various deals that are personalized to you based on your spending habits. For example, in addition to your usual card benefits, you can also get a statement credit when you spend at special merchants (for example: spend $20 at Coffee Bean and get a $5 statement credit). You just need to spend the specified amount before the offer expires. You can view all of your current offers when you login online to your American Express account under the “Amex Offers for You” tab. You just have to press the “save” button for the offers you want to activate. Here’s a screenshot of my first page of current offers:

 

It is no surprise that most of mine are dining offers. I am definitely going to take advantage of the iTunes one, it’s basically $5 of free music!

In addition to the personalized offers on your online account, you can also view and sign up for more offers via social media outlets: Facebook, Foursquare, Twitter and TripAdvisor.

My favorite offer to date has been an Amazon offer, which was promoted towards the end of last year. If you spent $75 at Amazon with your Amex card during the offer period you would get a $25 statement credit. We buy so frequently from Amazon that this was a great deal and I was able to take full advantage by purchasing $75 worth of stuff on my card and then another $75 worth of items using Mr. K’s separate American express card.

I’ve really enjoyed all the savings from the Amex Offers and I love checking for more deals. I make sure to only take advantage of the deals for places we would be spending at in the near future anyway. We’ve saved quite a bit on decorating our place, dining out, etc. According to American Express, there’s currently $15 million in savings available, so you should definitely check it out!

    I love these offers from Amex. I like that you don’t have to do anything except link your card to take advantage of the offer – no coupons, nor rebates, etc. I have taken advantage of a few of them and I hope they offer more in the future.

    I like that the offers apply to smaller purchases as well. I get tired of offers that apply only to purchases of $50 and up. I rarely, if ever, make any purchases that go over $50 at any one given trip to a store.
