If you’ve been to Napa Valley, you know that there is a plethora of wine tasting options with hundreds of wineries in the area and virtually every shop offering wine tasting as well. It’s definitely hard to pick out which ones are worth visiting.

However, I highly recommend you check out Jessup Cellars.

Jessup Cellars offers private tasting rooms for a very reasonable price ($20 per person for approximately 5 tastes, and if you buy a bottle, the tasting fee is waived). When we arrived, we were ushered to a nice air-conditioned dining area with wine glasses and an array of munchies set out including crackers, chocolates, nuts, cheese and dried fruit.

We had Bay as our host and he was friendly and knowledgeable. We were given a sheet of the wines we were tasting and pens to take notes if we wanted. I wasn’t quite sure what to do with my sheet, so I decided to express how much I liked a wine with smiley faces.

Even though we had five wines on the tasting list, Bay also offered additional pours of other wines we were interested in, so we actually ended up with seven tastings. I was really impressed with quite a few of the wines we had it and it did not take me much convincing to buy a few bottles of wine. Even though our final toll ended up being less than one bottle of wine per person, they just waived the tasting fee for everyone since we had purchased a few bottles.

I really loved this little space and definitely want to come back on my next trip to Yountville. And right after, you can hop on over to Addendum for some delicious fried chicken…

  1. I was also very impressed with Jessep Cellars when we visited for wine tasting back in 2008. It was one of the two places where we actually bought bottles. They also have a wine club that you can join. Thanks for the review, and memories!

    • I was really happy with this place too. We loved the wines and the free snacks. It was our first stop during our wine tasting day and also the best one. Some of the rest were quite disappointing. If I had known that from the start, I probably would have bought even more bottles here.
