Love To Go is a cafe located in the San Gabriel Mission District that specializes in 3D latte art.

I love cute latte art, which seems to be trending in Los Angeles (hopefully we’ll see it soon in San Diego), but this was my first experience with 3D latte art. I’ve seen it in photos on the internet but have never been to a cafe that actually offers it.

The drinks with the 3D latte art aren’t cheap ($5.98), but you’re paying for the unique factor. They also offer decorated marshmallows, sodas, and waffza creations.

Hazelnut Espresso Latte

I ordered a hazelnut latte. They made this adorable puppy that looks like it is jumping out. They told me this was actually the first time they had done this design and I was pretty honored to be the first customer to get the charming creation.

The espresso drink itself was nothing to write home about. It was decent, but I wouldn’t come to this cafe if I was just seeking out a regular espresso drink.

Sea Salt Latte

My friend ordered a sea salt espresso, which came with this 3D bear.

English Toffee Waffza

I was having a hard time understanding what exactly a waffza is. They described it to us as a fusion of pizza and waffles, with a both sweet and savory elements. After reading their website, I got a clearer picture. Basically it’s a waffle, but is topped with various toppings like a pizza, and eaten like how you would eat a pizza slice.

I really was imagining something more like using pizza dough but cooking it in a waffle iron. But it wasn’t like that. And any savory aspect is pretty much lost since these creations are coated in chocolate and then topped with more sweet ingredients (they have a few variations but all of them were sweet).

This was still interesting but I was a little sugared out prior to coming here so I really wasn’t in the mood for anything super sweet.

Overall, this is a fun spot to visit for the 3D latte art. The cafe is quite small with only about 4 tables available, so you might want to try to visiting during off-hours.

  1. Thanks for posting this! I had heard about it and kept forgetting to research. Expensive, but also art.

    • I agree. It’s a little expensive, but it’s a fun visit once in a while and although I’ve never tried making any latte art before, I imagine this isn’t easy!

  2. Oh I love the 3D coffee!!! I’ve never ever seen that before! I’ve been going to Pangea and have fallen in love with the whole cafe latte artistry . But yeah, $6? That’s kinda pricey. And not sure I like the word Waffza – sounds strange.
