Over the past year and a half, I’ve found myself shopping more and more at Whole Foods Market®. So when I was approached about sharing with my readers why I shop at Whole Foods Market, I was more than happy to participate.
Initially, Whole Foods Market for me was the store I would occasionally visit to buy snacks from local businesses or to grab a quick meal from their extensive prepared food bar. But as I spent more time there, I began to really appreciate all that it has to offer and the company’s values. I have increasingly relied on it as place to shop at whenever I have guests coming over, when I’m planning a nice meal, or when I’m in need of high quality meat, seafood, or produce. Here are some of the things I really love about Whole Foods Market:
Support of Local Businesses – I love supporting local businesses, so it’s really important to me that Whole Foods Market carries products from so many local businesses. I love finding artisan chocolates, healthy snacks and other unique products.
Sustainable seafood – I consume a lot of seafood and Whole Foods Market allows me to do so while still feeling good about it. For wild-caught seafood, Whole Foods Market carries a lot of Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certified seafood. For all non-MSC certified wild-caught seafood, Whole Foods Market has color-coded sustainability ratings. Anything deemed red-rated is not sold at Whole Foods Market.
Whole Foods Market also carries farm-raised seafood with very high standards of care, including prohibiting use of antibiotics, added growth hormones, added preservatives like sulfites and phosphates, and genetically-modified seafood.
Great Tasting Meat – I like to shop in the meat department whenever I’m in the need for what I call “restaurant meat.” In other words, high quality meat that tastes like something I would be getting at a nice restaurant. Much like its seafood practices, Whole Foods Market has similar practices for the meat products. They employ high standards for animal welfare and the meat selection has no antibiotics, growth hormones, and no animal by-products in the feed. You can definitely taste the difference. There have been countless times when I have guests eating over and they ask me where I purchased my meat from.
High Quality Produce – One look at the produce section and you’ll know what I’m talking about. Not only is there a lot of organic produce offered, but the quality of everything on display is just beautiful and such high quality. I love finding some of the more exotic things when they are in season.
Shopping Experience – The shopping environment is so key to deciding where I’m going to shop. I don’t want to deal with unpleasantness if I can avoid it. I have always had positive shopping experience at Whole Foods Market, with the staff being super friendly and helpful.
So these are some of my reasons why I’m a frequent customer at Whole Foods Market. For a more details on Whole Foods Market values, you can read about them here. If you do shop their regularly, I’d love to hear your reasons and what I missed on my list!

This definitely gives me more to think about when Shopping local and looking for quality as well. Thanks!
I’m happy my post helped!
My reason doesn’t apply to California, but they’re the only store in my area that carries Powerful Yogurt. 1 container of that stuff is a filling meal. Plus it’s good and thick, so it would be good for baking too.
thanks for sharing! I haven’t had Powerful Yogurt but I do love the yogurt selection at Whole Foods Market. I love how they carry so many brands I can’t get anywhere else! And I’m all for yogurts that are filling as a meal.
you forgot to mention Apple Pay works at Whole Food
I don’t use Apple Pay so I didn’t even know that, but thanks for letting me know!
I like their products, and the service is generally good, and would shop there more if it were closer to my house. The closest one to me is Del Mar, and that’s still quite a way.
Aw, that’s too bad they aren’t closer! I feel like I’ve always lived within 5 minutes of a Whole Foods. Near my parents’ house is a enormous one that is about 5 minutes away. When I went to college at UCSD, the la jolla one was within walking distance. I spend a lot of time at the La Jolla and Del Mar ones. I’m currently obsessed with their cold brew coffee selection.
