So in case you haven't noticed, it's strawberry season. Strawberries have been everywhere: on sale at the supermarkets, all over the farmer's markets, etc. As a result, I've been eating a lot of strawberries. Normally, I like to eat them by themselves. But a while back, my mom started making her own fresh whipped cream, and they tasted so good with the strawberries! I've had canned whipped cream with strawberries and wasn't a big fan of it, but fresh whipped cream is delicious!
So I finally tried to make some on my own this weekend. With a few friends visiting, and some fresh whipped cream, we easily gobbled up four pounds of strawberries.
Fresh Whipped Cream
Ingredients: Heavy whipping cream and sugar.
1. Pour one cup of cold heavy whipping cream into a steel mixing bowl.
2. Using a hand mixer, mix on high speed for approximately 1-2 minutes.
3. Let the whipping cream set for about 30 seconds. Add about 2 teaspoons of sugar to the mixture.
4. Mix again on high speed until mixture begins to thicken. Continue mixing until whipped cream reaches desired thickness. You may add more sugar here at this point to taste and mix some more if you are adding sugar.
