Fried Cookie Dough and Other Homemade Fair Food Recipes

This weekend I attempted to recreate the fried cookie dough we had at the fair recently. It’s become a tradition of mine to try to recreate some of the fair food recipes I see and eat at the fair. The fried ones are usually the easiest.

These were super simple to make. I had some cookie dough I previously made sitting in the freezer, but you can use premade refrigerated cookie dough just as easily. After all, you aren’t baking them into cookies, so you don’t need a fancy cookie recipe.

When I had tried the fried cookie dough at the fair, I thought it tasted like chocolate chip donut holes. I previously used a pancake batter for my deep fried fair foods like my fried oreos, but this time I decided to use Pillsbury biscuit dough, so that it would fry up like a donut. It was also easier to wrap the cookie dough and protect it in the biscuit dough. Recipe is at the end of the post

Here is a round-up of other fair foods I’ve made over the years:

Chocolate Covered Bacon

Fried Avocados

Fried Oreos

Fried Pickles

Fried Thin Mints

Mexican Ice Cream

Homemade Potato Chips

Soft Pretzels

Deep Fried Cookie Dough

Ingredients:

Premade refrigerated cookie dough
Pillsbury biscuit dough
oil for frying

Directions:

1. Make 1 inch balls with cookie dough and place back in refrigerator until right before frying.
2. Separate each biscuit dough slice into two. Roll out each piece and flatten slightly with rolling pin. Heat oil in pot being used for frying. Wrap dough around cold cookie dough, making sure to seal it properly. Drop into hot oil and fry for a few minutes on each side until golden brown. Repeat with remaining dough. Dust with powdered sugar before serving. You can also add a chocolate drizzle.
