Creamy Healthier Macaroni and Cheese and a Giveaway

I have a creamy stovetop macaroni and cheese recipe to share today, made healthier with Greek yogurt.

I love trying out different macaroni and cheese recipes and I’m always looking for ways to make Mr. K’s favorite dish healthier. Recently, I tried using some Greek yogurt.

I was afraid it would give the dish a tangy taste from the yogurt, but luckily it didn’t. Instead, it just made the pasta incredibly creamy. Mr. K didn’t even notice the recipe had been healthified.

I’ve found that one of the key steps in making creamy macaroni and cheese is to grate the cheese fresh rather than using pre-shredded cheese, which can make some macaroni and cheese recipes turn out quite gritty.

Servings: 4
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 20 minutes
Course: Main Dishes, Side Dish

This creamy macaroni and cheese is so easy and is a little lighter than a traditional one. It’s made with yogurt, but you can’t even tell it’s in there!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups elbow pasta
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup nonfat plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tsp mustard powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp hot sauce

Instructions

  • Boil pasta until cooked. Drain and return pasta to stove.
  • Turn off stove and add in cheese and stir until fully melted. Stir in yogurt and seasonings until completely incorporated. Serve warm.
