Grilled Cheese Donuts. Because it’s almost the end of the week and you deserve a treat, right? I don’t know why I didn’t try this sooner. I previously shared my French Toast Donuts recipe. While watching an older episode of Shark Tank, Tom and Chee and their signature grilled cheese donuts were featured. And while I’ve never had the pleasure of tasting it myself, I knew I could make a homemade version. So this is it.

According to their menu, it’s just glazed donut and cheddar cheese, so that is what I did for these as well. I bought some extra glazed donuts during my Saturday donut run (it’s become a tradition almost). Like most raised donuts, they were already turning stale by the next day. However, once I heated them up on the pan, they turned soft and fluffy again. These were so simple to make and make the perfect mid-week treat.

I’ve also made French toast grilled cheese which is similar!

Grilled Cheese Donuts

When I buy donuts for the weekend I always get extra ones so I can make grilled cheese donuts. They are a sweet and savory treat!

Ingredients

  • 2 glazed raised donuts, day-old is fine
  • 2 slices of sharp white cheddar cheese

Instructions

  • Preheat stove burner to medium heat. Slice donuts in half lengthwise. Lightly butter the inner side of the donuts which have no glaze.
  • Place 2 donut slices in a pan, buttered-side down. Add a slice of cheese to each, then put remaining donut slices on top, buttered-side up. Cook for a few minutes until bottom of sandwich turns a golden brown. You can press gently down on top of each sandwich to help the cheese melt faster. Flip sandwiches over and repeat until both sides of the sandwich are toasted and cheese in the center is melted. Serve immediately.
