Better Buzz Coffee

Better Buzz Coffee is a chain of coffee shops in San Diego that I’ve heard a lot of good things about. They recently opened a new location in Encinitas and we went to go check it out.

The decor is fun and whimsical and full of phrases perfect for any coffee lover.

In addition to offering several coffee drinks, they also have acai and pitaya bowls, pastries, and sandwiches.

Pitaya Bowl

The pitaya here is served like scoops of frozen sorbet. This tasted so good that I felt almost guilty eating it in the morning. I’ve been making pitaya bowls at home, but not sorbet-style. I’ll have to try it replicate this soon.

Best Drink Ever

With a name like that, we had to try it right? I wish that the coffees were served in glass cups and mugs. It’s really hard to take an enticing picture of a coffee drink when it’s in a to-go cup.

This drink combines a classic Americano with their creamy vanilla syrup. It was creamy, sweet and a tasty drink. It’s not quite the “best drink ever” for me, but it was enjoyable. If you are like me and prefer less sweet coffee drinks though, you might find this a tad too much.

Honey Latte

We also tried a honey latte. Again, I was sad this wasn’t served in a giant coffee mug with a finish of pretty latte art. Surprisingly, this drink was not as sweet as Best Drink Ever. The honey was subtle but good.

Overall, we had a nice time here. There are so many good coffee shops in San Diego now that it’s hard to pick a favorite. My top two right now are Holsem and Mostra, but I did like the decor of this place and the food offerings. They also have several locations, including in Pacific Beach, Mission Beach and Point Loma.
