2 Ingredient No Bake Healthier Brownies (No Flour, Eggs, Dairy, Butter or Oil)

These no bake healthier brownies are fudgy and sweet. They only need 2 ingredients and don’t contain any flour, eggs, dairy, butter or oil. The brownies are a cool and refreshing treat.

These brownies are soft, fudgy and don’t require any baking. I like to keep some in the fridge for whenever I need a sweet treat.
Ingredients
- Dark chocolate chips: I used 63% cocoa dark chocolate chips for these brownies. I don’t recommend using anything less than 60% because the brownies will not be set enough and may be too sweet for some.
- Bananas: Bananas are pureed before being mixed in with the chocolate. You will taste the bananas in these brownies. If you prefer another flavor, you can also use unsweetened applesauce.
You can also add an optional frosting to decorate the brownies, but they taste quite rich on their own.
How to Make No Bake Brownies
- The bananas are pureed in a blender.
- Chocolate chips are melted until smooth. The chocolate is then added to the blender.
- Blend on high speed for just a few seconds until you have a smooth batter.
- Transfer the batter to your prepared baking pan. Place into the fridge until set.
- If desired, you can also add a chocolate frosting before serving.
Texture
These brownies don’t have the same texture as baked brownies because they are not baked. They are soft, very fudgy, with a rich chocolate flavor. The texture is a cross between mousse and fudge. They are firmer than a chocolate mousse but softer than classic fudge.
Expert Tips
- I recommend blending the chocolate and bananas in the blender rather than just mixing them together by hand. Using the blender creates a smoother uniform texture.
- Once the brownie batter is blended, you do want to quickly add it to your prepared pan because the batter starts to thicken and set soon after the two ingredients are mixed together.

2 Ingredient No Bake Healthier Brownies
These no bake healthier brownies are so easy to make. Just 2 ingredients and no flour, eggs, butter or oil needed. The brownies are incredibly rich and fudgy.
Ingredients
- 1 cup (240g) banana puree, see note before starting
- 1 (11.5oz/326g) bag dark chocolate chips, 63% cocoa , approximately 2 cups, see note before starting
Instructions
- Line the bottom of an 8 x 8 inch square pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal later.
- Blend bananas in a blender until completely smooth. Make sure you only have 1 cup or 240 grams of banana puree, otherwise the brownies will not set.
- Add chocolate chips to a microwave safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between with a silicone spatula, until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth. Alternatively, you could do this over low heat in a double boiler on the stove.
- Transfer the melted chocolate to the blender with the pureed bananas. Blend on high speed for a few seconds until the mixture is smooth and uniform. Don't blend too long because you don't want to overwork the chocolate.
- Working quickly, transfer the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top with an offset spatula. The chocolate batter does start to thicken soon after the ingredients are mixed together so you do want to get it all out of your blender before it becomes too thick to work with.
- Put in the fridge to set (about 2-3 hours or overnight). Once brownies are set, remove them from the pan. Slice brownies with a large sharp knife, wiping the blade in between, for clean cuts. You can also decorate the brownies with frosting before cutting and serving. Store any leftover brownies in an airtight container in the fridge or freezer.
Notes
- Banana note:Â 1 cup of bananas is measured after they have been pureed. The best way to make this recipe is with a scale. You can just add 240 grams of bananas to a blender and blend until they are smooth and pureed. If you don't have a scale, I recommend pureeing 3 to 4 large bananas and then measuring out 1 cup of puree. Save the rest for another recipe.
- Dark chocolate note: You want to use dark chocolate chips (sometimes labeled bittersweet chocolate chips) that contain between 60% to 65% cocoa. If you use a chocolate with less cocoa, the brownies won't set well. Also make sure your dark chocolate chips contain lecithin. Avoid brands like Enjoy Life that don't contain any lecithin because that ingredient is needed to help keep the chocolate smooth and prevent it from seizing.
- If you need your brownies to be dairy-free, make sure to choose dairy free dark chocolate chips.
- I made this with Guittard 63% extra dark chocolate chips*

- For a simple chocolate frosting you can just melt some additional chocolate chips and mix with coconut oil for a soft chocolate topping. Or you can use this chocolate ganache frosting which is what I used on the brownies in the photos.
- Optional chocolate frosting:
- 2/3 cup dark chocolate chips
- 1/3 cup canned coconut milk (must be canned coconut milk and not the drinking kind which doesn't have enough fat; you can also use heavy cream if you don't need this to be dairy-free)
- Add chocolate chips to a medium bowl and set aside. Heat coconut milk in a small pot or pan over medium low heat. Heat until simmering. Pour hot coconut milk over chocolate chips. Let sit for 60 seconds then gently mix until chocolate is completely melted. If the chocolate is not completely melted, you can briefly heat in the microwave and stir again until melted. Frost ganache over surface of the brownies. You should have some leftover frosting.

Can I use straight cacao and not the chocolate chips and add the coconut milk?
Sorry, we haven’t tested that with this recipe so we are not sure if the results would be the same!
Did you use fresh bananas or overky ripe ones in this recipe? If I have some that turn dark on me, I toss them in the freezer until I have enough to use in a recipe. Then I just thaw them out and measure what I need. I’m just wondering if the overly ripe bananas would be too mushy for this recipe
I would suggest bananas that are more overly ripe vs very fresh bananas. The bananas are pureed for this recipe so the texture shouldn’t be a problem.
