Did you know you can cook an omelette in a waffle iron?

I watched a cooking segment on television last week demonstrating this and I immediately took out my waffle iron to make it.

This was a super easy way to make an omelette. You whisk your eggs and omelet fillings and then you pour it into the hot waffle iron. Then you can do other tasks while you wait for it to cook. No need to hover over the stove. Once it’s done, your waffle iron will tell you, the same as if you were making waffles.

The omelet came out just as it should. I liked that it came out waffle-shaped, though the indents are not as well defined as a real waffle.

This is a super easy way to make an omelet. You whisk your eggs and omelet fillings and then you pour it into the hot waffle iron.  No need to hover over the stove and once it's done, your waffle iron will tell you, the same as if you were making waffles.

Ingredients

  • 2 medium eggs
  • 3 tbsp milk
  • 1 tbsp each of omelet ingredients I did shredded mozarella cheese, chopped red peppers, chopped broccoli and breakfast sausage slices

Instructions

  • Preheat waffle iron and grease with pam oil spray on both top and bottom.
  • Whisk eggs and milk in a medium bowl. Stir in remaining ingredients. When waffle iron is hot, slowly pour in egg batter. Careful not to fill up too much. There should be a thin layer of egg batter across the entire surface of the bottom iron but if you try to pour too thick of a layer, it will just leak out the sides when you close your iron.
  • Depending on the depth and size of your waffle iron, you may have a little liquid left over to make a partial second omelet.

  1. My kids love omelette! It is soft and very delicious to eat. When I’m cooking an omelette for my kids, I use an omelette maker that  I bought at goods.ph for less hassle. I will try to cook the omelette waffle using my omelette maker if it’s possible. Thank you so much for this post, My kids will surely love this new recipe!
