During my last trip up to the Bay Area, I visited Icebox, a dessert shop offering ice cream sandwiches and shaved ice.

What especially drew me in were the pretty macaron shells for their macaron ice cream sandwiches and large selection of ice cream flavors including Asian flavors like ube and Thai tea.

We happened to visit during their one year anniversary celebration, so there were a lot of balloons and giveaways happening.

After a long deliberation, I chose these two macaron ice cream sandwiches for us to share. I loved the sprinkles on the birthday shell.

I was really impressed with the amount of ice cream for each sandwich. The shells had a good chewy texture and the ice cream was also rich and creamy.

We enjoyed both sandwiches a lot and I regretted not ordering one more.

Mr. K chose to go with a standard cookie ice cream sandwich. You can get the cookies warmed up, which we did. Again, we were impressed with the generous amount of ice cream served with the cookies.

I thought this was pretty good, but we have so many good ice cream sandwich places in San Diego that it was hard to get excited over this.

Overall, we had a fun visit here and I’d return again for more macaron ice cream sandwiches next time we’re in the area.
