These chocolate chip cookies are low carb, high protein and keto-friendly. The cookies need just 4 ingredients and don’t require any eggs, butter or oil. The cookies are soft, chewy and studded with chocolate.
I’ve really been enjoying experimenting with cottage cheese and it works so well in these cookies. You won’t taste the cottage cheese at all but it makes the cookies moist and soft.
Ingredients
- Almond flour
- Cottage cheese
- Brown sugar alternative
- Sugar-free chocolate chips
Almond flour: Make sure to use superfine blanched almond flour which has a finer texture that is closer to regular flour.
Cottage cheese: These cookies are made with 4% cottage cheese.
Brown sugar alternative: I used a monkfruit and erythritol sweetener blend. Avoid using a blend made with allulose which can cause the cookies to be too wet and to brown too quickly.
Sugar-free chocolate chips: You can choose whatever type of chocolate chips you prefer. I made mine with dark chocolate sugar free chocolate chips but you can also use milk chocolate sugar free chocolate chips.
How to Make Cottage Cheese Chocolate Chip Cookies
- The cottage cheese is first blended in a food processor until smooth. Then add in the almond flour and brown sugar and blend until evenly mixed. Then stir in the chocolate chips.
- Scoop 2 tablespoons of dough for each cookie, releasing the dough onto your prepared baking sheet.
- Press down on each cookie to flatten to a thick round disk. If desired, you can press a few additional chocolate chips on top to make the cookies look nicer.
- Bake cookies for about 20-25 minutes or until they are lightly browned on top.
Expert Tips
- If you don’t have a food processor, you can blend the cottage cheese in a personal blender until smooth and then transfer it to a large mixing bowl and stir in the almond flour and brown sugar until a dough forms.
- I added more chocolate chips on top for garnish but that is optional. There are enough chocolate chips mixed into the cookie dough.
- Avoid using allulose for the brown sugar alternative. Allulose adds too much moisture and will cause the cookies to brown too much before they are done cooking.

4 Ingredient Keto Cottage Cheese Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients
- 1 cup (237 g) cottage cheese, 4% small curds
- 1/2 cup (71 g) brown sugar alternative see note before starting
- 2 cups (176 g) superfine blanched almond flour
- 1/2 cup (81 g) sugar-free chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Add the cottage cheese to the bowl of a food processor. Blend until completely smooth, scraping down the sides of the machine as needed.
- Add the brown sugar alternative and almond flour, then blend again until evenly combined, scraping down the sides of the machine as needed.
- Add the chocolate chips and use a silicone spatula to fold into the dough.
- Use a 2 tbsp cookie scoop to scoop the dough and release onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing the cookies about 2 inches apart (if you don't have a 2 tbsp cookie scoop you can also use a 1 tbsp cookie scoop and do 2 scoops for each cookie). Flatten each cookie with the back of a metal spoon until they form thick round disks (slightly more than 1/2 inch thick). If desired, you can press a few more chocolate chips on top of each cookie to make the cookies look nicer.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the edges are golden and tops are lightly brown and the cookies are set. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet before serving. Store uneaten cookies in an airtight container in the fridge or freezer. I recommend reheating the cookies before eating.
Notes
- Brown sugar note: I used Lakanto brown monkfruit sweetener with erythritol.* The recipe also works with Swerve brown sugar alternative. Avoid using a brown sugar alternative that contains allulose.
- I used Kirkland almond flour*, Whole Foods cottage cheese* and Whole Foods sugar free chocolate chips* to make these cookies.
